I had a cataract procedure last Thursday. Due to the pain, I did not take my speed on
Friday, I needed brufen every 4 hours. On Saturday I took 8mg (I had been on 10 for a few days
during a flare but decided to reduce. Since Thursday, I was feeling no pain or aches
anywhere? On Sunday I took 7mg and today I have taken 5mg, still no single ache or
pain anywhere (except my eye ). I did not take any burden after Thursday. Before
the latest flare up, I was doing ok on 5, though could still feel a little pain but nothing
like when a flare comes. I am very cautious but obviously very happy with these
nil symptoms. Anyone any ideas?
Don't know where speed came from! It should say Pred !
Thank God, that is all I can say?
I think you're asking for trouble going down so fast I had to quit cold turkey at 8 mg in order for a bad wound to heal. The first 10 days were ok but then it hit just as bad as the day I was diagnosed 11 years ago. When wound healed 5 weeks later I tried 10 mg but had to go to 13 to get relief. That was in January. I am now at 7 and staying there for awhile.
Other people have said they have had no symptoms despite lower pred during other illnesses. There is no reason why the autoimmune disorder couldn't disappear as suddenly as it came and for some people it arrives overnight. But you do have to be careful with dropping the pred at this stage - slowly to be sure your adrenal function is still there topping up the cortisol.
