Symptoms just get worse

Is or has anyone experienced really severe sweating during their menopause and what helped? Mine are really bad sometimes it like having flu! It's also not helping with sleep so it's really interfering with my sleep. I have tried hrt patches but they just keep falling off (too much sweat to stick? If anyone has any tips that would be great!

Hi Jacqui,

Yes I have....it can be really embarrassing during the day,I just have to make sure I've got tissues with me when I go out to mop my brow with and take a fan.....been going thru perimenopause for 5-6 years now......the sweating at night is horrendous too.....haven't got any tips as was going to post up your same question till you beat me to it but for anyone out there with 'crazy' thoughts and anxiety,my Dr put me on Citraopram(used initially for depression) but found beneficial for menopause.......deff works for me with anxiety and panicky feelings and may have even slowed the night sweats!!!!!!! Good luck.

Thank you for this. However I don't really want to be taking any medication. I meet so many of my patients in my job that are trying to come off this type of medication. I will speak to my GP again though. Best wishes and thank you for taking the time to respond.

No problem Jacqui but I'd rather take that than HRT.......please share what your Dr says as its nice to hear everyone's views... seeing as we are all in the same boat...😊

That's great your not taking anything I've been going through this all with no meds except my BP med other than that nothing I've had the night sweats aching joints and pains hot spots on different parts of my body anxiety shoulder aches feet wrist you name it my doc told me some women take the hrt but not recommend because after coming off of it the symptoms come back full force hrt just helps with the women that can't deal with menopause grrrrrrrrrr then also I was put on it for one week when I was younger couldn't deal with the side affects so that definitely was a no no anyways well I hope you feel better and get through this naturally I know easier said than done but think of the bright side we will all get through this eventually like today I have the sweaty hands I keep washing them and keep it moving oh also one other thing that has kicked up was my allergies grrrrrrrrrr

I have had this problem for maybe 8 years. Just always to hot and sweaty....very sweaty. I have learned to carry around wet wipes. And I have fans everywhere. The wet wipes help cool me down and it's relaxing to take a moment to take care of myself.

Thank you to those of you who have responded so far.

I'm also reluctant to take hrt for the very same reasons. It's the "not being able to sleep " bit because of these ( I can only describe it flu like) Symptoms which keeps me awake. If I could sleep I could cope much better. 😴

Will do. And thank you.

jacqui.  Don't know if you've tried drinking camomile tea.  I found this really helped with sleep, an hour before bed.  I drink it regularly now, even though symptoms have calmed down a lot, just in case.  I get a full nights sleep with it. It might help you naturally.

Hi Jacqui, my sweats were soaking through my bedsheets, not sure if yours are that bad, but anyway, I started making a Flax seed tea. Take some flax seeds boil it in water until it get's a little sticky. Add a flavoring, no sugar and drink it. I save the rest and put it in the fridge. Drink it in the morning.  I would say 1 cup of Flax seeds to 5 cups of water. It will calm the hot flashes almost within a day or 2. It is used in several cultures to cure hot flashes. It worked to cure mine when it was at its worse.
