Symptoms of a rotator cuff tear but isn't one

Hello. I've been having problems with my shoulder for about six months now that seem to have the symptoms of a rotator cuff tear but thanks to two MRI scans I have had, one of the brachial plexus and another of my shoulder in general, I know it isn't one. The doctors are baffled so they gave me a cortisone injection into the shoulder. From what I've read about said injection is that it's used for problems with the rotator cuff even though I do not have a rotator cuff tear. Does anyone know of what else it could be? I am fairly worried now due to the doctors being baffled by my case.

Hi Nathen97319,

I don't know cus I am baffled by mine too,I had op

Hi Nathan I had various symptoms pain mostly and weekness. I have had a sub acromonial decompression basically everything had become to tight the tendon was being trapped/squashed.

I would persist with further investigation as the procedure I had is often used for investigation too. It's key hole. Don't give up I waited far to long for surgery the pain before and after surgery was agonizing. Good look

Hi Irene it offers some comfort to read your comments regarding pain. I too had the SAD opp 9 wks ago. I'm still on strong pain relief as physio is important. When will it end I ask will it ever be pain free. Take care

Hi Jane47013,

I started Phyisio second week of Operation and Was in Agony went bk to hosp and they did Steriod injection into shoulder half of it squirted bk out n was really painful this is the only time I have been pain free since op 3/8/2015 so I am still waiting for it to be sorted I could nt tolerate phyisio too painful by far can't now either.

So hopefully when I go Wednesday I am going to get some answers from the consultant next weds will keep you all informed as to the outcome.

Gosh sounds horrendous. I had the decompression tented cleaned as it had frayed and a full rotation as they said I had frozen shoulder that part I doubt as my range of movement was good. Physio is sole destroying I have now got some movement but when I'll be able to fasten my own bra God knows. I use my own judgment I think it's better to do a small amount than push it and be crawling the walls in pain.. I wish you well and look forward to hearing how you get on. Jane

MRI scans don't always show rotator cuff tears. This was the case with me.

I wouls ask your surgeon if they're willing to go in and have a look and repair what they find.

The Chef s hat,

This is what happened with me I had exploit oryx op thro keyhole and they said would repair a hole lot of damage when found n iy wasn't half painful after the first day 20 times worse than being in labour' never known anything hurt so much in my life.

They did loadz in my operation to repair damage to bone been taken away n don't I know it.

Hope we all find some recovery soon.
