symptoms(please help)

Hello, i was wondering if having pain mainly under right ribcage is a symptom of ibs. i have an appt with the gastro. my stomach hurts and i am always in the bathroom with the obvious most days and i am now starting to miss work because of the pain

Hi Danielle93272

I have IBS and I have watch what I eat, also I take Colofac 3 times a day which helps but I also get terrible nausea for which I sometimes take metoclopramide, I also have pain but under my left rib cage and what I find helps is eating weetabix for a week or so, maybe the pain you are getting is gallbladder related so I would see a GP.  I do feel for you cause it is horrible but I just have to live with it and cross fingers it doesnt get real bad .

Hi

A couple of years ago I had gallbladder disease. My symptoms were pain and nausea but I did not suffer from bowel problems as such so no diarrhoea. You could Google this but I was not aware that diarrhoea is common amongst people with gallstones anyway. The I had pain was severe and occured in the organ itself and, quite often, in the right shoulder blade (referred pain). The gallbladder lies about two inches below the rib cage, not actually underneath it. The liver does lie under the rib cage but I don't know if that is relevant or not.

As far as I understand it the pain associated with IBS can occur almost anywhere in the abdominal region so this may be what you are experiencing but, at the end of the day, only a doctor can examine you clinically and offer a proper medical opinion :-) Hope you get it sorted when you see the gastroenterologist!

Rib cage pain where u describe could mean many other health issues. PLZ see UR dr he has UR health history & can more accurately define what UR diagnosis could be.

i know i have had a ultrasound of my stomach done. they also done another test where liver, pancreas ,gallbladder and right kidney was tested and found nothing.this is a nightmare

Stay with UR doc on testing it takes time to diagnose .

Good Luck
