Symptoms that fibroid has grown?

Stomach is still swollen, not sure how long it will take to go down. Guessing it might be a while. Thanks Tanza please let me know how it all goes x

Hi

I'm wondering how you are a year after surgery? Has it grown back ?

I have 3 fairly large fibroids going for an mri

In 2 weeks

I have no symptoms except that I can feel them especially when I'm full they are hard as a rock and grown a lot the past year

I'm super scared of surgery, but I keep thinking maybe they are dangerous. I'm 46 and hope they tell me I can wait for menopause but probably not.

Pls let me know how your doing so long after surgery

Thank you

I have similar symptoms. My is 6cm. Im nauseous and stopped exercising. Im depressed. Belly bloat. Sometimes i get nauseous for no reason. Im waiting on my surgeon to call as ive decided on total hysterectomy.

Hello Nickeylopez my name is Christine I'm about to have surgery on Oct 24th to remove my Fibroids I look like I'm 9 months pregnant my stomach is hard as a rock it is so embarrassing everybody is always asking me if I'm pregnant I even lost a lot of weight because I get full fast I am so scared to have this surgery I am having a hysterectomy is there any encouraging words you can tell me

Alicia

I am going tthrough the same dilemma..I have my daughters wedding coming up in may and now he want's me to get it done..may deal with my symptoms until after the wedding. .however it seems like what ever it is is growing fast.. (mri didn't show fibroid) so confused but just want to resolve it..my right leg is week and can't lift it ..

Hi Nicky

When I read your entry this might sound strange but I felt delighted and relieved...I too am a woman of faith but I am a coward...ha ha ha ..I do believe that God wants me to be braver..I'm brave for everyone else except me......so when you said you were scared I totally identify ... I recently did a CT Scan and my doctor said I have a huge fibroid and he is going to refer me to a gyno to have it removed...he said it is pressing against other organs..I've known that I have it for years but honestly I was running away from everything and  God made me stop and do a turnaround and face my fears..one of the hardest things I have had to do.

I didn't even know about this online forum and it's such a relief to hear so many women have the same symptoms and that they are dealing with it too..so this gives me hope. I really wish no woman had to go through this ..I tried some natural remedies for a while but this one is a stubborn one and will need to be cut off...

I am praying a lot ..so please put me on your prayer list and I hope to have mines done soon..Mine is huge ..I don't know the size but it could be like 20 cm and I also look pregnant and like many women on this website I want my life back!!!

I am 46 and they may remove everything but I would prefer if they left the uterus..but I leave that in God's hands..

I just wanted to make friends with you and let you know how mine is going and get some support and I am single and possible will have to go through this alone...but at last ..I am getting it done...

After surgery..did your stomach go flat immediately?..how long did it take to return to normality..how it is today?

I'm looking for friends..so anyone can reply, please

Hi Christine:

How has it been since the surgery? I too am in a similar situation..and I hope to have mine operated on soon...A nice update would be appreciated.

Hi Tanza:

Can I get an update on your operation? Any words of encouragement or advice?

God speed Alicia..I pray that all goes well for you...I would like to know of your progress post surgery

Hi, jceden

I am just like you, nervous and needingtpo make friends to help deal with this.

Please let me know how you're doing. I have several large fibroids and I'm scared.

Hi Jayne

Hi Jayne

I was diagnosed with fibroids 4 years ago and have one which was seemingly the size of a large mango. I had no period problems- just abdominal swelling and bladder problems. Was referred to a consultant and decapeptyl injections were recommended (2 injections every 6 months for a year)- the hormone therapy was supposed to shrink my fibroids, but they didn't do much!

2 years on since I last saw my consultant, I now have much worse symptoms- my abdomen is very distended- so much now that I have to take a uniform 2 sizes bigger than I had 2 years ago! I have chronic back pain, and now have pain when I bend down to pick things up in my upper left abdomen. My periods are still the same and my bladder has not got any worse either.

Its the abdominal swelling and lethargy that is getting me down- I exercise every day- but lately it has been uncomfortable to run with a saggy tummy and I just feel tired all the time! When it comes to meals, there is nothing much that I fancy and really just have small nibbles of things like crackers or protein smoothies throughout the day, as I am just not that hungry.

I am dead agaunst a hysterectomy, but am keen on other surgical alternatives- I have an appointment next week to see my GP and will ask to be referred back to my consultant and hopefully get a scan to see how big they are now!

Hi Jceden,

How's it going. Where are you in your process with dealing with your fibroids? I have had a stomach that looks 7-8 mths pregnant for around

5 yrs. Busy taking care of elderly parents. Now, want to really get serious with getting rid of these fibroids.

Ova

Hi Lulu, any update? I am trying to muster courage to go get this thing taken care of. Ova

did anybody have hip back and leg pain?

Hi Ova

So I saw a Trainee GP 10 days ago- she did an external manual exam of my abdomen and an internal exam. She was gob-smacked at the size of my abdomen! She showed me the last referral letter that my consultant had sent to the practice and it said that my consultant would see me 6 months after my last appointment with her and we could decide on options........that was 18 months ago- I received no letters from the hospital re seeing my consultant at all! As you can imagine I am pretty annoyed that I appear to have been missed off the radar!- another discrepency that I had was that after my Decapeptyl jabs my consultant told me that it hadn't been much of a success as my biggest fibroid had only shrunk 0.5cm- whereas on the referral letter to my GP it said that it had shrunk from 10.5cm to 7cm...3.5cm!! which is pretty significant!!

Anyway the Trainee GP said she would arrange for one of the experienced GP's to perform scans on me to see exactly how much they had grown. She also took bloods to rule out cancers and a general blood count to check if I was anaemic.

Within 2 hours of getting home the medical centre were phoning me to come down the next day to get scanned!

The second GP I saw is very experienced in gynaecological issues and she was absolutely gob-smacked too that I was able to function normally due to the size of the fibroids! On maual palpation she said that the largest felt like it was just about up to my bottom ribs! She carried out a transvaginal scan and said that they were so big she honestly could not say how many there were, but she estimated the largest one to now be the equivalent of being pregnant 6 months and the next largest on the opposite side of my abdomen to be approx 5 month pregnant! She tried to carry out my cervical smear at the same time as it was due, but said she just could not manage due to the bulk of the fibroids pressing down on my cervix!

My bloods were all fine and she said that she would refer me urgently to see another consultant at a different hospital.

Within 4 days I had an appointment to see one of the top Professor Gynaecologists in Scotland, so I will go and see him in 2 weeks time. The more I research about my options, the more that I am starting to think my options are really limited and I fear that hysterectomy will now be my only option as they have become so large! I know that he does carry out embolisation treatment but I am unsure as to whether mine are just too big now to carry this out!

The back pain is so bad in the mornings and she wondered if it was due to me lying on my front and pushing the fibroid into my back- she also scanned my kidneys to check they were ok as she was worried that the back pain was maybe due to my ureters being compressed- they were fine tho.

So its just a 2 week wait until I see another expert, but I don't know if I can have the Decapeptyl injections again prior to surgery as I have already had them within the past 2 years.

And yes I do get hip and back pain!

I have leg and hip weakness..I am not pregnant though..but from a recent ultrasound they said my uterus is anteverted and leaning to the right putting press it e apparently on my right leg. When ever I get my period Imy right leg almost drags so disturbing. For yes now I have been telling my gyn that my leg weakness has to do with my periods he insisted otherwise. Now all of a sudden after last ultrasound and exam he says oh ya definitely get hysterctomy. He said my endontrium lining is kind of thick considering I got an ablation in 2005. One doc. Wants to give me biopsy..another says they may not be able to get a good sample due to my ablation. So frustrating I have hysterctomy schedulled in august. Hopefully I can hang in until then. I am so out of common when I get my period. I shake..get a low grade fever. And my leg problem magnifies. If anyone has any input or have same symptoms let me know I am not alone. P.s. Ana and antidna. Elevated..Mri.came back negative for any lesions or pinched nerves or hernias that may have caused weakness. Thee was also blood in urine and I am on antibiotic now apparently I have bv. They said protective barrier is gone..sheesh!

Hopeful that I will find a solution. Just hope that if I decide to get biopsy before hysterctomy it comes out negative.

V.b.

yes I have chronic lower back pain and intermittent hip and leg pain which my GP is blaming my very large fibroids!

I think mine has gotten bigger ecauseat firsy I had no symptoms. I was told I hadthem about 8 -10 years ago. I've had extremely heavy periods but never any pain. Now my back, around my waist and y legs hurt so bad. I don't have insurance so I'm stuck with this pain. Thanks for responding. I thought the pain in my leg was something unrelated.
