Hi I was diagnosed with syphilis 27th June and was given antibiotics to combat the infection. However despite taking the recommended 2 pills a day my chancres have still not cleared up. They have got a lot smaller and are going but I was wondering how long it usually take for them to completely disappear? Does taking the antibiotics speed the process?

Also, I forgot to ask the doctor, but can I have sex with this? And will masturbation prolong the chancres? 

Any help is much appreciated.

Have you been prescribed penicillin?  Check with you doctor.  Syphillis is entirely curable

do not masturbate or have sex until you r completely well - that is common sense

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes I was prescribed penicillin by the doctor. I was just wondering how long the chancres take to go away, given that I have been taking penicillin now for around 10 days.
