Tailbone Pain 3 weeks post op

I had hysterectomy, anterior and posterior repair for rectocele, and vaginal repair. Been in more pain this last week than the 1st week. Now, it is very very uncomfortable to sit! Tailbone pain with pressure. Does this mean I screwed something up, or is it normal? I am freaking out a bit!

I'm 8 weeks out with rectocele, enterocele and vaginal repair and this is normal. It gets better at about 6-7 weeks.

Hi try not to worry the pain definitely gets worse after the first week for at least a few weeks but it will get better, just take it easy x

Please make an appointment to see the surgeon. Maybe you are not resting enough. You had pretty extensive work done. I would research your procedure to read experiences from others. I have not had any of the procedures. I was told I needed a rectocele repair surgery. I got a second opinion and was horrified to find out i really didn't need it now. They referred me to pelvic floor physical therapy for muscle training. Pray for your healing and recovery ๐Ÿ‘

I certainly hope so! Before the surgery, I researched everything possible, so I knew it was a long hard recovery. I am so greatful that I did the research because, my doctor did not give me the details that I really needed for recovery. I sa the Dr. Last week and she assured me everything was in tact and it is just healing, so there will be more pain. It just seems like each day their is a new pain, or a continuation of a newer pain. The tailbone pain is going on 4 days now. I really can not sit correctly without moderate to severe pain. In posts from other members I had seen some have this pain as well. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks post op, and I am freaking! Constipation is still an issue, even after all the things I am doing to keep it under control. 500 mg of Magnesium, Mirelax, stool softners, eating prunes daily and fiber bars.... anything else, I should be trying? This is just a long healing process, even being armed with the i fo beforehand, noghing can really prepare it. I am greatful you guys are here!

Praise God!!! Hang in there!!!!

Hi Sassy. I can relate to your tailbone pain. I had a LAVH and BSO in January last year, and am 3 weeks post op for slight anterior and larger posterior repair. I had tailbone pain last year, not so bad this time though. I thought it was because I injured mine years ago, and really felt it when I did the pelvic floor exercises. So far, that pain seems to have been a lot less now. Whether it was because this time the surgeon also found adhesions and endo and it was something to do with that? Maybe also its because you/I am spending a lot longer sitting, and if you're uncomfortable, not sitting as well as we should? Just a thought. Hope it soon eases, it's a roller coaster isn't it? Hugs x

Thank you for responding! I am not alone, or going crazy! I am glad yours has improved. I just don't know how or what I did to cause this. I have a call into the doctor. I am worried as my short term disability has me approved to be off til next week. I am trying to get an extension since my job is a sit down customer service job. Right now, I can't sit up straight. Trying to sit for 9 hours has me terrified! Hopefully the Dr will call soon. Thank you again for your input! Will keep you posted.

I havnt had the same as you but i had tubal litigation and posterior repair just over 2 wks ago and ended up back in the hospital today the pains were so severe

They reasured me this is normal part of recovery and gave me stronger pain relief

I hope this helps you i was freaking out too thinking i done something to make my pain worse as last week it wasnt so bad compared to this week

If your really worried call your doctor

I hope you feel better soon x

So sorry to hear you had to be admitted again. The pain is terrible! I did call my Dr. and she said the pain is normal. She recommended Ibuprofin 600 mg 4 times a day. And to use ice. The good thing is I am not losing my mind! I am praying the pain starts to go away. It is excruciating. Please keep me informed on how you are doing!

Glad you have spoken to your doctor. Take it easy, it is major surgery, and definitely don't go back to work too early, and make sure when you return, it's on a phased return too. Hugs x

Omg i know the feeling i thought i was going mad

Im feelin so much better

How are u feelin x

Elainer, I am still siffering with the railbone pain unfortunately. How long did it take for your pain to go away? I have had mine for over a week now..... so glad you are feeling better!

Just wondering how you are now? I'm 14 weeks post op and my tailbone is killing me. I can't even hardly sit for the 40 minutes it takes to get to town to work. Please tell me yoy found some magic way to recover?!? I've found it's alot worse when my bowels are fuller, should I continue taking the stool softner? Ugh! I hate this!!

Hi there, I am doing good! Yes it was more painful when my bowels were more full, so I would stay on the softeners. I also took Gabapentin as well. I think that helped also. My pain went away after week 7 or 8 after surgery. Good luck, it was a very rough patch for sure.

I just had everything done that you had done 12/16/25 and I came to google to see why my tailbone was still killing me, in fact it felt like it was easing up on me for a couple days and then bam it hit me harder than last week Itโ€™s just good to know itโ€™s normal due to the extensive work weโ€™ve had done My surgeon is a great surgeon but sheโ€™s not a great communicator and I knew this going on Being done laparoscopically, I thought no cuts no stitches easy peasy itโ€™s the whole entire opposite of what I thought anway, google took me here and Iโ€™m happy it did
