Hi i have been takeing citrlopram for years in different doses although does help with my anxiety and depression changeing the dosage does have strange affects on your system i have been put up to 20mg but gonna cut dow to 10 next week i gave been worried about my memory and i have taken traqulizers for ten years in the past and other antidepresents im worried about altzimers and maybe the effect all these tablets all these rablets do i was put on tranqalizers at 17 although im a lot better now i feel as though my mind gets jumbled up sometimes does any body else have memory probs sorry about the long message
I have been having memory problems to Tracy I have only been on Citalopram for 4 Months 20mg. I have decided to cut down to 10 myself I spoke with my doctor and they said to stay on 20 till my current prescription runs out. But i have been struggling the last few weeks especially engaging in conversations at work and feel really withdrawn from everyone. I wanted to know was it the meds or was it me feeling like this. I have been feeling better since cutting it down but am having what I think maybe some side effects.
But like you I have been questioning myself have I got the early signs of dementia/alziemers. This was part of my reasoning on being put on the medication tho because of my health anxiety.
Don't know if this is any comfort for you Tracy but your not the only one feeling or thinking what you are.

yep memory is all over teh place however since weaning it isnt as bad but generally the minor side effects I suffered out weighed the symptoms of GAD and Depression any day. We simply cant anticpate azhiemers if we fall victim to it or if we dont apparently caffeine is a good inhibator ? enjoy everyday and avoid worry my friend thats the gig

Hi chelseakev i think changing the dosage affects your memory i have been takein differen tablets on and off since i was 17 i amm 55 now but i find citalopram is quite a good one although recently i have had deppresion again so they say to take 20 instead of 10 but i am going to cut back to 10 again again as i felt better i do think theae tablets have an affect on your memory so maybe cut down gradully as you havent been on them long you must feel worried about taking them but just take them until you feel better then talk to your doctor and i really think counselling helps aswell good luck chelseakev 🐻
