I shattered my talus two months ago. I got two plates and 7 screws. At my last post op (6 week) appointment, they took x-rays. They said that they looked good but it is too early to see signs of avascular necrosis. I was wondering what the symptoms are for trauma induced avascular necrosis? I have more aches than usual around my ankle, but I feel that's normal. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Hi Woodyra! I aslo fractured my talus body 11 weeks ago. I did two xrays and CT. I immediately wear a cast after injury. So now its 11th week of non weight bearing and immobilization. Fracture was undisplaced I went to several doctors and they said no need surgery. Two of them said said about the risk of avn and four doctors said it will heal well in a cast and no risk of avn. But I am really afraid a week after I will do another CT and remove my cast hope heals well. This talus injury is really tricky and the worst. Nobody knows what will happens to the bone due to lack blood supply. Only God knows! Wish you full recovery. If you have a questions contact me
