Tampons with cystocele

I'm able to wear tampons and keep them in but my small cystocele bulge sits below the tampon near the entrance and is so uncomfortable .

Has anyone gone back to wearing tampons post cystocele surgery without any discomfort ?TIA

Hi Mum2girls,

I had exactly the same Pre-op...if I didn't get the tampon positioned correctly it would be very uncomfortable and sometimes would come back out.

I tried tampons again recently (6months post op) and it was fine. I had forgotten how easy it could be to put them in before all the issues began!

I was cautious and only used them daytime.

There was no discomfort and no feeling of it coming out.

😊

Hi Mum2girls

I wonder if you have tried a menstrual cup - this would get overthis. You can also get a menstrual cup for a low cervix - its called the Femmycup, this is partcularly useful for women like you who have a low cervix.

The other option would be to use a natural sponge tampon, or something like a beppy tampon as they are a different shap and fix more around the cervix than in the vagina like a typical tampon.

I hope this helps.

What was your surgery ? Has it been a complete success.

Gives me hope that I can get back to normal. Thank you x

my cervix is t low I have a cystocele which is a bladder prolapse and it's my saggy cystocele bulge that sits below my tampon so feels like the tampon is digging into my anterior wall x

I'm currently using pads (hate them) as ive  had 2 periods post op now and when I used a tampon on my last period although it went in soooooo much easier I did feel a pulling/tugging sensation when it came out which was enough for me to resort to pads.

Do you not need to drop a tanpon size ? May I ask what your repairs were and has it resolved your symptoms ?

I had a laparoscopic repair to retro and cycstocele with pelvic floor repair. I tried smaller tampons but still had the same problem.  I'll keep trying as pads are like going back to the dark ages!

Forgot to say that I can pee much better now, no having to lean forward so that's better. With regards to the rear end, the bulge has gone but I still get some discomfort and my muscles need to retrain to know when I need to go. Pelvic floor definitely feels better even though I didn't know I'd got a problem. Sex life has improved although dryness can be an issue and certain positions can be uncomfortable. All in all I would say it's been a success and I don't think I realised what a state I was in until it was all sorted and now I know what 'normal' feels like again.
