I have tappered from 6mg per day of lorazapam to now on valium alone 5mg am 5mg noon 15mg bedtime why am I so sleepy all the time should i reduce the valium? been on this dose for 10 days

Are you reducing with your gp?

he would be the best yo,advise you.

The slower the reduction the less withdrawal symptoms. Go at a pace you feel safe at. Dint rush it.

Linda..  thank you for your response, but at this point in time, concerning my mental help, I respect the responses from you and other fellow members of this board ...Remember doctors are the ones that put us in theses situations..I hope that they are listening and reading perhaps  learning from our problems....

You must have gone to your Dr. with a problem to be put on Lorazepam in the first place - yes?

Deep breath, calm down and remember - biting peoples heads off will not help you.

Lorazepam is a stronger drug,    yes,  I know you know that,  ok,   so 6mg to almost treble at 15mg ??   From that I take it your Dr. gave you the 5mg tablets,    one thought would be to return to your Dr and ask to be given the Diaz.  as 2mg tablets,   and ask is it alright to reduce the dose to a more comfortable one for yourself, ie that does not make you so sleepy.    Try 12mgs  as a start and work from there.

From there,  if it is your intention to come off them altogether,  do the withdrawal very slowly.  Keep in mind how long you were taking the medication,   length of time is important,  in my opinion more so than the strength of the dose taken,  due to the body becoming tolerent.

Regards

Jessie.
