My daughter just recently spent 2 weeks in the hospital, she isn't able to eat due to severe stomach pain 15-20 minutes after she eats. It all started around the end of June when she threw up after eating and complained of her stomach hurting, within a few days after and her stomach continued to hurt after eating she basically wouldn't eat knowing the pain would be coming on. When she was admitted to the hospital she was dehydrated ( even when she feels fine she doesn't drink much daily ) and constipated, she hadn't gone to the bathroom in about 7 days. She was put on IV fluids and within a day or so given "go-lightly " through an NG tube to clean her system out which it did. Not to back up a little, last August she experienced all the same symptoms and spent a week in the hospital and within a few weeks afterward her eating got back to normal with no stomach pain. Also, when she is feeling well she eats more than most grown men, she's 16 yrs old and weighs 110lbs size 0. Just like last August and this hospital stay they ran all types of tests including a GI scope both times, extensively blood work, ultrasounds, including checking for MALS this time and everything came up normal. This whole experience has been exhausting for all of us. She's been home for about a week now and has an ND tube to get nutrition and water and actually back in the hospital today since the darn tube clogged and has to have a new one put in. I've searched everywhere possible online for what could be causing her undiagnosed stomach pain but I keep coming up with nothing. Has anyone out there experienced anything similar or have a teenager that has gone through this ? Thanks for any help you can provide. John
was she tested for food allergies
Yes, and she passed all of those fine.
did she have a CT scan of her abdomen?
I believe so. They claim her gall bladder, pancreas and appendix all look ok.
were her vitamin and mineral levels checked
might be just be IBS
