Although i had an ultrasound scan a few weeks ago, i was told my gallbladder was fine and no gallstones showed up. I still get a tenderness (sore to touch) feeling under my right rib and sometimes mild pin pricks type of pain. Could this still be gallbladder related?
There are several organs that are located in within the abdomen area that is right underneath the rib cage. Most of the time, pain in this area is due to an injury or inflammation to any of this organ. Sometimes, pain can also be due to change in posture. However, if it is persistent, I think, you need more thorough medical examination to rule out the cause. Pancreatitis, IBS, acid reflux, appendicitis are one of the few conditions that can lead to sharp pain under right side of rib cage. There is something called Costochondritis that can cause rib pain. It is just an inflamed rib joint and isn't that serious, but some people need anti-inflammatory drugs or other pain meds while waiting for that to heal up on its own.
Thanks. Once i have received my MRI results i will see what they say and will probably go back to my GP if it still persists. I'm determined that this year will be the year i get my health back on track :-)
Would my liver cyst be the cause of this discomfort under my right rib cage? The doctor said not and that it is more likely to be acid reflux which i suffer from anyway.
