Tendon problem

I am 15months post LTHR and for the last few months I have had a lot of discomfort in my groin when going upstairs or lifting my leg up eg to get into a car. My doctor said it is due to the psoas tendon rubbing on the prosthetic joint. Have tried anti inflammatories with no effect. Has anyone else had this problem and do they have any suggestions. I don't fancy the steroid injection!

,Don't know much but when I looked up psoas tendon on here a little advert flashed up on the right hand side. It is something called a wedgy. Might be worth a try if you don't fancy the injection.

Dear Lisa, I am 14 months post op and I get this groin plan from time to time. I use a magnesium chloride spray on the groin and down my thigh 2 or 3 times a day and take magnesium tablets. This also helps with cramp, which I often get in my calf and foot on the operation side. Hope it helps.

Physio would be the best person to see, its all to do with stretching and strengthening the muscles. I too also had a look at some physio web sities, and found an exercise video, and followed it, its amazing what a difference a few days of following the ideas presented make, but don't hurt yourself. A physio at the hospital told me its not about how much pain you can cause yorself. You do the exercise until you feel the pull, and then give it a break, and repeat.

Thanks Lyn. I think I will go down the physio route. I did my exercises religiously for a few weeks but then I got a bit lazy so maybe I was the cause of the problem! But I really don't want the steroid injection if I can help it.

Dear Lisa - I too have been down the same path, got a little lazy, or maybe more than a little lazy during the cold months of winter, you'll laugh when I say Queensland Winter, and paid the price for it. Since I have gone back to work with extra exercises and swimming in a heated pool as well I have improved big time. I think it takes about a year or more before you can get back to being lazy if thats what you want to do, the rest of it is hard work, the more work the better the improvement.

Hi Lyn. Yes I must get back to the exercises. I do envy your Queensland winter though. Just coming into a British winter now so plenty of dark evenings to exercise!
