Hi
I have been getting bad spells of vertigo off and on for a couple of years. I am starting to feel it again now and I've noticed that a lot of the time my whole head starts to feel tense and my jaw begins to click and my head makes a vibrating kind of sound. (Similar to a noise you can make if you over tense your head- if that makes sense). Does anyone else get this noise? I'm not sure if that what tinnitus can be like? I'm beginning to wonder if my problem is to do with my jaw more than my ears. Has anyone else had these kind of symptoms?
You may be experiencing TMJ. Have look on line with Google and see if the symptoms match any of yours. TInnitus can be a highnpixhed sound like. Mine, but again there are different 'sounds' so check that too.
I have been worked up for almost everything. I do have jaw issues, but they are secondary to migraine, specifically vestibular migraine or migraine associated vertigo. My whole neck muscles will spasm up, jaw aching. Dr say part of the migraine syndrome. Do ck into an experienced tmj physical therapist. If you have that, it can trigger the migraine or mimic some symptoms. Ear symptoms can be part of the migraine syndrome. Also, Menieres has some strange tinnitus, but usually involves some degree of fluctuating/permanent hearing loss.
Please get checked out for Menier's disease. I have had similar occurances and I am interested in discussing more with you if you have been diagnosed with this disease. I am searching for a common denominator, and your message is telling me about hearing noises prior. Think back and let me know exactly what those noises sounded like. Mine were voices and music comming from like out of the blue.
Hi Dave.
They have mentioned Meniers disease and I had an ent appointment. At first they were a strict no- I'm too young (29) then I mentioned my great Aunt had it and they took it a little bit more seriously. They gave me a hearing test but my hearing came back fine so they said its ear problems possibly from sinuses, diff pressures etc but I'm not so sure. Usually it starts with my ears playing up. Sometimes one completely blocks up, a couple of times I have had the tinnitus - a short sharp ringing in the ear and now it's like this vibrating noise which is more obvious at night, it almost sounds like the noise of blood rushing through the head.
Thanks for getting back to me. My symptomprior to being diagnosed with Meniere's was the voices and or music from nowhere, but any other unexplained sounds could be relevant.
IC, have you had your blood pressure checked? There is an artery (tympanic artery?) near your ear drum. Might be worth a check.
And Dave, your icon is making me dizzy - ha ha, just kidding. But it does look like an optical illusion.
