terrible health anxiety, please help

hello, for the record i am 19 -i'm going through a rough patch right now as my uni entrance exams are really close and my anxiety has come back. basically, when i was around 13-15,i noticed what felt like enlarged lymph nodes on one side of my neck. one on the line of the neck muscle and the other just behind my mandible/below my ear. back then i freaked out thinking it was cancer, but they never changed and i never had any symptoms. i noticed they'd go down a bit if i was out exercising or after a hot shower tho. (dunno if this helps but i'd gotten pretty bad otitis when i was around 6-7 so maybe that's what caused them?) with my health anxiety coming back i noticed them again just now... theyre the same as then, id even forgotten about them. however i noticed when i had a warm compress (stiff neck muscles) on, they went away almost entirely for nearly day. after this, they come and go a lot but i dont have any other symptoms other than stressing about it and i usually get that only at night when i dont have any distractions. are they cysts? im scared of going to a GP since i have no idea what they could find but im thinking of any time, not just this, that it would be necessary... im sorry if this is long but thank you so much for reading, please be considerate x

I would go to your Dr and have it checked out.. Nothing to be scared about-- just peace of mind. I would want to know what is going on.. But in the meantime, take care of you-- eat healthy, water and keep up the exercise.. Good luck on your exams!

Hi eria33
My son had this on one side of his neck had camera down nose n throat it was a swollen gland, they said this sometimes happens to young people, if you go to GP they can reassure you that it will go away when your less stressed, please stop worrying , good luck with exams and try not to worry things will get sorted and your be fine x

thank you, this really made me feel better!! i’m working on it mentally, i’ll have to get it checked out since i wanna be reassured and have peace of mind as you mentioned but i’m focusing more on the exams rn. again, thank you, i’ll take care of everything!

i see, come to think of it i’ve had anxiety issues since back then so it could be playing a part in it too. anyway thank you for the reply too, talking to others who’ve seen/experienced the same really helps me worry less about it!! i will ask a GP as exam season passes
