Terrified I have a brain tumor. Ease my worries please?

Hi,

So, this might be a long post I should say for starters. Bear with me please.

On Saturday afternoon(the 18th) , I started experiencing discomfort when blinking. This discomfort increased when I was exposed to bright light. I took an acetominophen that day I remember and then had some caffeine as I figured it was a migraine. I have migraines and have pain behind one of my eyes when they come on.

Well, the pain wasn't as bad after this, but it persisted throughout the day and on Sunday. On Monday, I woke up and there was a throbbing pain behind my eyelid. It hurt so bad. Like a 9/10. So, I went in to see the eye doctor. He did a very thorough eye exam and everything looked normal. He thought I may have the beginning stages of uveitis though so I was given anti inflammatory eye drops as a result.

Well, I've been taking these eye drops as instructed and the pain isn't nearly as bad as it was, but it is still there. I also have had this pain near my temple on that side, in my neck, over my ear and across the part of my forehead that's above that eye that is causing me discomfort. This pain will be fade in severity every so often. Acetominophen and caffeine help like I said.

It's really starting to freak me out though that this pain over my temple and such keeps coming back along with the eye pain. I do not feel it's my eye at all since the eye exam was normal and everything. The eye drops have not given me a major improvement at all either. So, I'm going to the eye doctor on Monday to tell them this. I am also going to my doctor on Tuesday(I have an appointment) to talk about this headache.

It's really starting to scare me though and I am worried I have a brain tumor or excess fluid in my brain. I am 23 years old. So, I am aware this is something that would be a very rare occurance at my age. It still terrifies me though and I will not be able to put my mind at ease until I get answers from the doctors.

I also had a creepy event happen yesterday. I was behind the wheel and my mom was in the car with me. I was driving at night. When I got back home and I turned off my car, I saw black splotches in my vision when I blinked. They were like black dots. It went away after a little bit, but it scared me so bad.

Help ease my worries please?

I just got out of the hospital neuro icu for 12 days because i had a csf leak. Does not sound like you have a leak but mine was due to having intracranial hypertension its also called something else too but its to much spinal fluid basically. Which can cause headaches, vision problems and a few other things. If this has been going on for a long time then i would see a neuro surgeon. I was 33 when i was diagnosed with IIH. I'm 37 now and I had a CSF leak. Even though rear, it can happen.

YOu need to get in and see a neurologist, only they can evaluate your symptoms.

With that said, pain in the head is rarely the sign of a brain tumor. My brother died of a Glio Blastoma brain lesion a year ago. His symptoms started with strange smells that created a 'deja vu' sensation in his mind. He had an MRI done and they found a medial-temporal brain lesion in his Glio cells, which are the connective tissue in your brain. A very aggressive type of tumor. Even with 2 surgeries he only lasted a year-it's the same type of tumor that Senator John McCain has in the USA.

Only a neurologist can properly diagnose your problem, you need to get in to see one asap. Good luck.
