Tested positive for HSV-2 Partner of 5 years negative

I was recently diagnosed with HSV-2 (high IgG levels; type specific serology only performed) after a visit to the doctor for what I thought was contact dermatitis from wearing a waist trainer, body suit and jeans and a case of recurrent BV. My partner of 5 years results came back negative for all tests with no signs of exposure. How is this possible? I have never been with anyone else during our relationship. Wouldn't his results at least indicate exposure to the virus?

We are planning on getting retested because my diagnosis seemed odd because my doctor told me "don't worry about it" no treatment was given for herpes only medication for BV and cream for rash

It is possible you did not get it from him but from a previous partner, I was told high levels means you have had the virus for a while

what did what you thought looked like
contact dermatitis look like?
