I tested positive today for Hvs 1 & 2 my number was 14. What does that mean? And my partner tested negative is that possible?
Plus I have never had any out breaks
Was it an IgG or IgM test? Was the 14 for HSV-1 or 2, or both combined? Unfortunately, if combined and it was an IgM test, it is the wrong test to do for herpes and you need to follow up with the IgG test.
It was for the hvs 2 igG test. That's all it said was 14. Not like 1.0 pr 1.5 nothing like that just 14
That is a definite positive in that case, assuming the test kit was HerpeSelect (normally the case if you're in the US). Usually there is a reference range provided. To answer your other question from before, yes, it is possible to have and transmit it without ever having had symptoms, and it is also possible for your partner to not have acquired it yet.
So it says hsv 2 igG 14.60 index H 0.00-
Type spec. 0.90
They also did an igm test is that accurate
IgM is not useful, so you can disregard it. IgG is the one that matters in the absence of a swab test.
Is there any way this can be wrong? Or is this test pretty accurate? Having a hard time accepting this
Assuming you were tested with the HerpeSelect IgG test kit, then unfortunately your index value is considered quite high and well above the potential false positive range (up to ~3.5). The test can have issues, but with lower positive scores, particularly in the presence of pre-existing HSV-1 (whether oral, genital, symptomatic or asymptomatic). High scores are rarely wrong, though. You can reconfirm by the "gold standard" University of Washington western blot test, if you would like to do that, but it is pretty pricey.
So I have never had an out break EVER since being diagnosed I have been overly stressed recent break up HVS diagnoses and now I have a painful burning in my vaginal area no sores just burning is this an outbreak
Hi
I got diagnosed two months ago
My IGG Value is 11.08 and I also like you.. Never experienced an outbreak.
After received my diagnosis, I always have strange feeling (numbness) around my upper thigh and buttock area. It makes me very nervous. I always use hand mirror to self check see if any visible symptoms.
