Hi All, have been put on Citalopram from the start of this week due to mild/severe anxiety. I was a bit scared to start with about taking my tablets but have now bit the bullet and have been on them for 3 days . Dont really think i have had any bad side effects yet other than feeling tired but nothing to bad. I was wondering if any of you take your tablets in the evening as the leaflet tells you to take them in the morning and i think thats why im getting tired during the day. Not sure? Im only on 10mg at the moment so i need to get to week 3/4 to see any effect but reading what is on this site these tabs sound a good thing. Im hoping they are
Carl, was wondering if you've had any side effects such as numbness in toes, feet, fingers, or anything like that. My girlfriend has just started on citalopram for depression, but keeps complaining of odd things as mentioned. She is also very tired after taking and about an hour afterwards coplains of being very cold. Anyhow, any insight you could provide is appreciated. Good luck and here's to everyone getting well.
Hi wytwolf. I have had a small amount of side effects namely tiredness and raised agitation/ nervousness which im told will go as i take the meds for longer. I get aching in my legs but no tingling but we are all different so i maybe a similar side effect. i would say that i have been on them only a week now and if the side effects im getting is all im going to get (i hope so) then im willing to carry on with the tabs as its a small price to pay to try ad rid our selves of depression / anxiety which as we all know is a horrible illness to contend with.
keep your girlfriends spirits up and give her you full support as this coupled with the tabs will get you through this
I started Citalopram (10mg) 3 days ago, and today is the first day i've been experiencing any side effects - i'm feeling quite sick, and my vision is a little blurry. I'm a little worried that these side effects are going to get worse before they get better, but i figure that if they work in the long-term, then that is worth the discomfort (i hope!) I've heard as well that these tablets can alter your sex drive adversely, and i was wondering if anyone has had this happen, and does the effects wear off after time?
On the plus side, it is so good to have sites like this to talk to other people going through the same thing - i'd convinced myself i was going mad!!!
I came across this site tonight just as I had decided to look into this here citalopram, which I was prescribed on Thursday (20mg) and have now been taking for three days. I don't expect miracles and yes I have had the same nausea and anxiety so many of you seem to experience to start with, but having read so many positive reports I feel determined to give the drug a chance.
I have fought privately with depression for many years (I am 46) but now feel the time is right to enlist some help - it has such a crippling effect on your life (and let's face it we don't get the chance of a re-run!)
It's so reassuring to read a little about other people going through the same thing (and at the same time) - I shall persevere and visit here often to see how everyone else is doing, and maybe even share a thought or two of my own Good luck to everyone.
I used to take them in the evening, and found things just got worse and I felt verrry very strange. Bit simply switching to taking them at lunchtime really helps! Becuse then they're working throughout the afternoon and evening, and you can sleep easyer at night. Instead of being on the \"come down\" all day then the affects keeping you awake all night.
