The Panic!!!

I think the negative thoughts and the panic which follows it is the worst. How can you deal with the panic and feeling like something bad will happen. This is so hard.

Many years ago I was experiencing all that and had the good fortune to be counseled by a young psychologist. The way out of the panic was to focus on it and try to make it worse. Sounds counter productive but you will learn that the panic you are feeling is self limiting. The more you do this, the negative thoughts and resulting panic will have less power over you. Try it and see for yourself.

Hi dannie

Its the worst feeling in the world. Nobody understands unless thrylley have felt panic and anxiety to the degree we feel it. I have GAD and have anxiety daily. I feel like I will die everytime I leave the house and have panic attacks a lot. The list of symptoms is endless. I force myself to leave the house but its not getting any easier. In fact it may be getting worse x

this is the part i think no one gets unless they experience it. Also how so many end up woth health anxiety. Very torturous at times.

Hi Dannie,

I have had to call emergecy services three times over the last two weeks during major panic attacks. Their tips were breathe in and hold for five seconds, resist the urge to curl up as this restricts the diaphram and normal breathing, sit straight shoulders to wall, try to read something out loud. Worst case is you could pass out via hyperventilating and so long as you dont hit anything on your way to the floor ghe brain resets itself and when you regain conciousness breathing will be normal.

Anxiety is cruel, I have had it bad for six years. The brain \ thoughts automatically default to worst case scenario, its called catastrophising. Then you worry the worst will happen but it never does.

Best ways to deal with it are Meds from Doctor, Councelling or CBT or self help via your own research.

I hope this post helps...

Hi. I like you often think physical symptoms would be much easier to deal with if the terrifying, worrying feelings that come with anxiety weren't there, the worry , fear ,racing , heart, racing thoughts , are the worst for me. Then I get painfullbmuscle tension as I never relax. I am glad people on here understand when we explain this as I think people without anxiety think it can't possibly be that bad, sure they just think we constantly moan, and get on their nerves. Glad we have people to talk to here . I've spent nights awake in pure panic thinking my thoughts and fears are sending me mad. My poor mum has had to stay overbite st times. Manage anxiety better nowadays but always aware how bad it can be❤️

Thank you everyone it does help to hear from others and know I'm not alone in this. No one truly understands, unless they've gone through this. I have always had anxiety but this latest bout has been going on since March. These panic attacks are far much worse than ones I've had in the past. Thank you so much for thanking the time to reply to this post. It has helped me a lot.

if you're ever panicking and need help go to you tube, search panic attack emergency and they guide you through it. Several to choose from.

also you can search for meditations for anxiety. They teach you how to separate negative thoughts from yourself. I think it could really help you!

If you can pick up a book called Mindfulness, it teaches how to change your thinking and have peace of mind so the negativity and fear won't control you.

when you get a negative about anything, you have to stay calm. Do not react with anxiety, but calmly acknowledge the fearful thought, then imagine it floating away and dissolving. Our thoughts are not a part of us. They come and go all day and negative ones are not based on reality, so we have control and can eliminate them.

YOU are in control.

Feel Better!
