The scores on the doors.....

So, 3 weeks today since my Revision TKR, and I went for my Physio assessment today. It's 3rd time round for me, so I know the drill and also all the Physios at the Hospital! I was measured at 75 degree bend today which I'm pleased with, but we were so busy chatting about my TKR "journey" that I forgot to ask what my extension was! They've signed me up for 2 sessions a week starting next Tuesday, so guess I'll have to wait and find out then! Maybe I'll have gained a couple more degrees by then, anyhow 😊

Slow and steady I say!! You'll get there!

Yes,best of luck Terri

I was wondering how everyone knew their precise degree bend and asked my husband if we had something to measure it LOL!  Now I realise it's done by the physio.  It must be very hard doing this for the third time round now but it sounds as though you're making really good steady progress Terri.  Well done and I wish you well for more progress yet:-))))

You can also do it yourself if you buy a goniometer. they are cheap  . . around 5 pounds upwards on amazon.  it's really just two pieces of plastic which you put pointing at your hip and towards hyour ankle, with the leg bent as far as it goes. . . it's interesting to see.  I thought I had more than 90 but discov ered it was only about 85 at six weeks. Now about 134.  Not 100 per cent accurate, because it depends on getting the angle exactly right, but gives a very good idea.

Oh thank you!  I'll do that!  I'd never have had a clue what they were called LOL!  It's an encouragement to work for more, whatever bend you've got, isn't it.  I found doing the recumbent bike today was just that tad easier than yesterday and getting in and out of the car - sliding back on the passenger seat as far over towards the driver as I need to and then bringing foot in, is getting easier and easier.  I just went to my local supermarket for the first time since the op and it was so lovely to see people I knew and another milestone towards normality.  Just off to look for the goniometer now!:-))))  I'm finding the aircast with tub hugely beneficial that I saw mentioned on this group before I had my op so can recommend that to anyone thinking of them.

I bought quite a large goniometer . it's easier to get the angle right . . . good luck with it!
