hi everybody, just to update you all. 10 days on since my surgery. The best thing I have ever done. It was instant relief. Yes I'm sore and yes it's tender but I have had no pain what so ever. The swelling is going down nicely and the bruises are less by the day. I'm getting around nicely. I am hoping to be down to one stick by the end of this week. I'm steady away but the walking is improving with every step. This really has changed the quality of my life. Thanks everyone for your advise and support
good to hear, wishing you a speedy recovery.
Wow - very impressive progress. Very glad to hear the good news for you.
Be careful though - as another forum member reported from her PT, there are 20 groups of muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc healing after this surgery. And a slow walk is more likely to result in a smooth one .... so you can avoid a longterm limp.
Congratulations on your hard work.

Well done nige! I hope your healing continues to be successful. I'm in on Friday for my
2nd and can't wait to be pain free.
Excellent news. Good luck with a speedy recovery.
So pleased to hear your good news. I would have the surgery tomorrow again if I needed it. 7 weeks no limp no stick pain free apart from some residual tenderness. ⭐️💫🌟
Hi Nigel
Great to hear it is brilliant. I have had both done 6 week apart at the start of year ans l have to say its the best thing l ever done to as l suffered for a year with OA pain not knowing it was coming from my hips. I was walking with no sticks after l.was home and in hospital l told my PT l preferred just one as the 2 just mixed me up. My 2nd hip replacement was totally diffremt from 1sr l had more movement in it right away. You know how you wake up and your leg feels its a dead weight well the 2nd one was not as bad at all and again l was walking about quite quick when l got home without aids. Everyones diffrent so l don't want anyone thinking thats what happens l guess l was just lucky. I know my friend is the total opposite and needs her walking aid as she has a diffrent condition from me its not just OA she suffers so much the little soul.
But l envy you as in a few hours l go in for my 1sr knee replacement. Its a complete diffrent kettle of fish all l have heard is that its so much more painful than hip surgery and that the oain lasts for much longer. And l have to get them.both dine so today is number 1. There is only 2 peoole so far thats had hips and then knees who have said its not as bad as people are saying on knee forum that was lizard from this forum and dave and l am taking what they say and focusing on it but beleive me l would rather be where you are now as l remember feeling that myself.
Keep it up nigel
All the best
Laura
Hi gwen
As l was saying to nigel my ecperience for my 2nd was completley diffrent from my 1st my doctor told me to expect that but l will say l found my 2nd a lot easier in everyway l could slide it up and down the bed right away where as my 1st l was crying with the pain and thought that leg is never gonna move. I new what to exoect with bedpans ect l just found it way easier. I was desperate after getting my 1st to get 2nd done as l felt it was holding me back so after 4 weeks l called my surgeon and begged him to do is asap. He said ok but l am on holiday for 3 weeks l will slot you in when l came back. And he did. The only thing l will say is because your body has got 2 new hios it has to realine itself to your new posture and wayvof walking so l had sore backs for quite a while. And l am still a bit stiff if l sit on a hard chair for a while. Now my knees have got worse with OA and l have to get them.both replaced. TODAY being my 1st one. Eeekkk. I am just fearing the pain afterwards as its meant to be severe. I hope l can suffer it. Hope your next one comes soon. And by the way you add 5lbs to your weight for the metal inside. 1 can weigh between 3 and 5lbs but my 2 have definatly out 5lbs on. So take 5lbs off whatever you are after you come out. I wonder if getting 2 new knees will at more tom
Good luck

Thank you for your kind words of experience. I do feel stronger both mentally and physically since my first hip replacement and going by what you say, my next will be easier.
I wish you a successful, pain free knee operation and a fast recovery. I can't even imagine what that would be like, so look forward to hearing your story.
If you're right about the weight of prosthetic hip, I can stop worrying about losing weight! 😁😁
Good luck today xxx
