The "weird head" feelings

Does anyone else know what I mean? It's not just headachey for me, but pressurey, heaty... can't even think of the right words. So very very tired of feeling this way.

I have the same problem. My head is not really painful, it just feels like a bit of pressure. And it isn't always in one place.

Do you just endure? Or take meds? Mine sometimes become full-fledged headaches sigh.

A the moment I am taking hrt. This is not the cause of the heads as I have had the head problems for the last few months. I have only been on hrt for about 4 weeks now. I believe the heads could be fluctuating hormones. I am seeing my nurse next week so I will have a chat about them. You poor thing. Mine do get me down a bit. My relaxation therapy helps me though before they get to bad. I get a little dizzy also. Do you?

No, I don't really get dizziness/vertigo. It's mainly that "weird head sometimes-heat pressure" thing, with tinnitus too... for the first time today I actually wondered if I'm dealing with migraines.

I would get it checked out. I have had bad migraines in the past. With mine I would get black spots in front of my eyes and feel nauseous. There are meds out there that could possibly help you with them. I have also used a cold gel eye mask which I always keep in the fridge just in case.

Oh yes, I thought there were all those "typical" migraine symptoms I'd hear my friends describe, auras and things... I don't have those so didn't think about it... but gah! who knows with this perimenopause thing. Tired of it all. A cold gel mask sure sounds good.

Yep, unfortunately us women have to go through these life changes -and some men too- that is why it is so helpful to speak to others about their symptoms. You don't feel so lonely then :)

Yes it's true. It can feel very isolating and overwhelming sometimes; it helps to know you're not alone. Feel free to write me here any time X

I know what you mean, I get the same. I am wondering if it is part of hot flashes I get :(

hello cat, iv been having the head and ear pressure for a long time, then it made be off balance in march of this year so i went to the GP who thought it was Menieres disease and sent me to the hospital to have some test in ENT who thinks its migraine related. the doctor asked me to do a food diary and walk out everyday to train my balance and not to have an caffeine. i did feel some improvement from the walking but i dont think its food related for me . All this week iv had head and ear pressure and today its made me feel off balance and nauseas. My tinnitus is also louder. sorry i have no fixes but just thought id share my experience as its good to know im not alone.

Hey Cat, sorry I have only just logged in. Here for you anytime too. How are you doing today? x

Oh, thank you so much for sharing. Yes, it is good to know we are not alone! The ENT also postulated "mild Meniere's", but it was never clear, because I don't have that hallmark vertigo.

Have you considered temporomandibular disorder (TMD), especially if you grind or clench your teeth?

And yesterday for the first time I actually wondered about migraine too -- should we be treating for that instead? How are you treating it now?

Is all this peri related? So so tired. Like many women on here say, I miss the the way I used to be so much, but I'm trying to press on in faith.

Yes! Sometimes it feels "hottish" for me, and made me wonder. Does it only happen with your hot flashes?

Oh, thank you for asking. Still alive, you know? Hanging in there. Trying to find the light at the end of the tunnel. Last night was crappy and am trying not to react negatively. How are you?

hi cat

i too dont have the vertigo. iv been put on Cinnarizine to help with tinnitus , balance and the migraines. no iv not heard of TMD so ill look that up but i dont grind my teeth. we're all a mystery with this menopause to the doctors and appear to have to get through it ourselves thats why its so good having this forum to chat. hope your days ok today take care x

I'm not to bad thanks cat. Head is a little stormy today. That's most days though. I had a bad night a couple of nights ago. I hadn't realised that hormones play a major role in the digstion system. I've had stomach problems for the last 7 years now and had never put it down to possible peri-menopasuse. I was also very low in iron so was put onto liquid iron for about 3 weeks. I knew the dizziness I had was to do with something. Having another blood test tomorrow to see how my levels are now. There is a light somewhere, just having got to it yet.

Does the cinnarizine help? I was given betahistine.

The TMD can also be from clenching unconsciously. Just have a dentist or oral surgeon take a lot. It may not be so apparent in your teeth as it's the jaw joints, and you'd need an xray to show any wear there.

Oh, all the gastro stuff. Yes, so annoying. I hope you're feeling better now that the iron thing's been addressed at least.

i was on betahistine for about three months which the GP prescribed but i came off them as they made me feel nauseas. The doctor at the hospital put me on cinnarizine and yes i think they've help.

its a shame i didn't know about the jaw joint last week as i had an xray at the dentist and only go back in nine months.

thanks for your help ill look into it.
