I had TKRs 4 months apart two years ago. Things were great. But as time goes on it is getting harder to walk without a cane because my thighs seem to be weakening. I have rheumatoid arthritis and next week am getting a shoulder replacement because my bones are crumbling and my left shoulder is frozen and in horrendous pain. the right one is frozen but has no pain. am I doomed to be in a wheelchair?
I am sorry to hear of your problems. I don’t have any answers I’m afraid, but I would say to use walking aids if it helps keep you mobile and continue doing the physio exercises you were given after your TKR’s. What painkillers are you taking?
I can’t really offer you any advice but I do sympathise. I have just had my second hip replacement and am waiting for my second knee. I also have severe arthritus particularly in my left shoulder which is virtually useless and painful so I do wonder if I too am going to end up in a wheelchair.
I get very despondent having to use a stick because if just makes my shoulders worse but I am hopeful that when I other knee gets replaced I will more like facing having my shoulders done.
Anyway you are not the only one who is suffering if that helps at all and I hope all turns out well for you.
Wish I could offer you some real advice but I think it is just a question of trying to stay positive and I know that is not easy…
