Think I've found the answer to my "BV".

This will be a long post, so prepare yourself. I started getting BV symptoms when I was about 14/15 years old. It was on and off until I got to 18. that's when my problems really began. I was tested for BV and thrush multiple times. They always came back negative. The metronidazole worked, but only for a few weeks. About two years ago I decided to go to a sex clinic as I was so fed up of this. I was tested for every STD, all negative. The gynaecologist there recommended washing with water only. (I had previously been using aqueous cream as soap just made it worse). I also stopped taking birth control. I saw a slight improvement, but it was still there. Probiotics helped, but I couldn't always afford to buy them. I have tried nearly everything. inserting yogurt, eating it, apple cider vinegar, different BV gels, inserting probiotics, wearing no underwear, wearing cotton underwear. I was never brave enough to try the douches that some do. I am almost 30 and have had the same partner since I was 20. I changed my diet, drank more water, nothing worked. My main "symptom" was the smell. That awful fishy smell that makes you self conscious and in the toilet every 30 mins, checking. Many times I would be in work and have to wash again, despite showering every morning. The dread you feel if someone says "what's that smell? it smells like fish in here". I was paranoid I had grown accustomed to my own stench. I never understood it, I washed every day, clean clothes daily, and still by the end of the day I could smell myself. It didn't seem normal, yet every test was negative. antibiotics worked, BV gel too, but only temporarily. Last month (just before my period) I got really sick of this. The smell is always worse just before my period. For the millionth time I searched google, looking for answers. They all say the same thing. "if you have a fishy smell, it's a sign of an infection and you should see your doctor". I feel like saying - surely I should have serious issues by now if this infection has never left my body. infection spreads, yet I am still walking around. I refuse to go back for them to insert that uncomfortable speculum and be told that it was negative anyway. I remember one doctor, when I was 18, told me "maybe that's your natural smell". Well no sorry, I refuse to accept that. You don't shower every morning and by the afternoon smell like a dead fish. Surely not? I carry on searching google. An advert popped up. Not the usual, "cure your bv in days" and then they want £100 for it. This was different. I promise you I am not selling anything to you, I vowed if I ever found something I would share it. I know how depressing it is. Lume deodorant. For anywhere on the body, but designed for your bits. at first I was skeptical. I spent a few days reading reviews online. It was created by a gynaecologist. She claims that, when tested, the sweat from our nether regions produces the same odor that BV does. So when you sweat, and it mixes with blood, semen, urine etc, this is when the fishy smell starts. I was amazed, and perplexed as to why doctors just keep giving antibiotics. There must be a lot of women out there who have been over diagnosed. I ordered it. It cost me £44 because of the shipping. cheaper if you live in the states. It took a while to arrive, about 3 weeks. I ordered the unscented tube. To be safe. I didn't build my hopes up. I used it after I showered the following day at about 2pm. by 11pm, no smell. Shocked, I went to bed. Woke at 8am, no smell. Wow. my issue, all these years, has been sweat. Just like you sweat under your arms, you sweat down there too. Mine is obviously stronger than most. The instructions say to apply a few times a week. I left it for another 2 days. I could smell it again, but it was faint. I applied it again after showering and it was the same. No smell. Usually, I apply it every other day, or every two days. They say you are good for 72 hours, I haven't tried it yet. They say it's unscented, but it does have a smell. A lot of people don't like it, and I'll admit, I wouldn't want to use it under my arms, but I use a small pea size amount, and the smell fades. Plus, I would rather smell of this than smell of fish!! I hope I am not talking too soon, but it's nearly 3 weeks and my issues are pretty much gone. Lume deodorant. Google it!
