On Thursday (30th April) I was scheduled to have my lower right molar removed due to it being cracked. Unfortunately my dentist was unable to fully remove the tooth as it broke off. He did try very hard to get the root out, but he found out that it is curved and it just wouldn't budge.
He has referred me to the dental hospital and said in the meantime it should settle and the gum would start to grow over it and not be a problem.
I go on holiday tomorrow and I'm worried that I will still be in a lot of pain. How long do referrals normaly take? I also have horrendous earache. This must be related?
Hi Lisa, Sad To Hear Only Some Of The Molar Was Not Extracted..If You`re Going Abroad Take Your Tablets With Your Prescription Notes And Make Sure You Have Your Holiday Insurance Is Up To Date. Dental Referrals Can Be Anyone`s Guess, But Chase Them Up After Your Break . Happy Holiday.
We're only going to Wales, and I was thinking it might have settled down more by now but it's so sore. I've had a tooth removed in the past and all was good after a couple of days.
Guess this one was much trickier :-(
Hi Lisa, sorry to hear your trouble with your tooth. I waited for about 5 weeks but not knowing that I had a nasopalatine cyst I now have to wait again, the operation which should be about another five weeks. You know what you need to have done so maybe you won't have to wait so long
Many Years Ago, Easy Pain Reliever Was To Have A Tot Of Whisky And Hold It On The Lower Jaw Till Numb,Repeat When Nec... Be Aware Of Local Pharmacy Opening Times.
If you are still in a lot of pain ring the dentist and check if this is normal five days following. My guess would be that after all his rooting around (no pun intended) that this may take time to settle but it's best to check you haven't got any infection. Did he give you any antibiotics?
If you ring you can also ask how long the referral will take.
I hope it improves in time for your holiday.
