Hi Everyone, Is it commonplace to have to wait 6 weeks for a pelvic ultrasound? I understood it was a 2 week referal...I am stressed enough as it is.
I guess it depends on where you are and the healthcare there. And also why you are having the ultrasound. I didn't wait that long.
Hi Wainright
I think it probably depends on your symptoms. In the UK, if they suspect cancer they put you on the 2 weeks express cancer pathway, which means you'll be seen within 2 weeks. If it's something else, you probably end up having to wait longer. Hope that helps. xx
Hi becky & jane,
I was referred by My GP after having a pink discharge 5 years post menopause.
Then I think I'd look for somewhere else. 6 weeks isn't typical as far as in concerned. But I'm in the US.
Hmm... I would at least have a conversation with your GP, ask why they've referred you and why the appointment is 6 weeks away. Or request a second opinion from a different GP. What area of the country are you in Wainright? J x
May I ask why your gyne isn't involved in this? My gyne setup all my ultrasounds which were about a month out.
Hi wainright. Did you ever get your ultrasound?
Hi 2chr, I have to wait another 2 weeks, which I am confused about! I thought you should be seen quicker than that...that is the soonest appointment the hospital have. How are you doing??
Wow. That sounds like an excessive wait. is that normal for where you live?
I am doing ok. One day at a time.
