hi everyone I use to be on here a few years ago unfortunately I'm having a rough time again I've always suffered from health anxiety ever since I was 15 I'm now 34 every single time I've convinced myself that I have something wrong with me but all the tests turned out normal Since Friday I was eating toast and half way through the toast it felt like it was coming back up my throat , naturally I became very anxious ever since Friday every time I'm eating it keeps coming back up my throat and so feels like the food I'm eating is getting stuck in my throat seen my doctor Friday in a panic because i take aspirin quite regularly for chronic migraines I kinda knew it was a side effect from that she is now sending me to have a xray were I have to drink a dye like powder drink to highlight my throat and stomach , I'm freaking out I always avoid medical procedures that require me to take a medication or chemicals , I get panicked that i may be allergic or have a bad reaction to it. on top of that shes given me a prescription for somac which is a antacid of course I cant take that because I'm scared of the side effects so here iam with food coming up my throat or something coming up as it has no taste and isnt sour like acid and I feel I have a restriction in my throat like a lump I'm overwhelmed to say the least do yous think I'm making the symptoms worse? how do I get over this fear of medications and medical procedures? thought I was over all this stuff goes to show it can always come back... cant afford mental health treatment right now so stuck and afraid
Hi Alison, I totally understand, as I have health anxiety too…also a med phobia…but I have taken a stomach tablet, and believe me, it will help you…could be you have hiatus hernia..that would cause you to feel, that you cant swallow your food..I am no Doctor, but my sister had the same symptoms…its not life threatening, and she is on stomach med too…I would be very nervous getting tests done, but I find once I am in the hospital, I usually calm down, hopefully this will be the case for you…but please be brave and get them done..x

I’m booked in for the swallow xray this Tuesday I’m very nervous and on the day I know I’ll be insanely anxious but I have to get this done .
I’m scared my throats got something really wrong with it and may need surgery or worse nothing could fix it .
its bizarre cause this all started last Friday
hi…yes aspirin can cause reflux or silent reflux where there’s no heartburn but a lump like feeling or something stuck in your throat. Aspirin and ibuprofen are well known for this problem. you may need an acid suppressor to ease the inflammation. Changing brand of anti depressant has caused this for me to, I have to go to ENT to confirm silent reflux. barium test is ok, its just a drink which shows up on screen, simples!!!
