Those awful white stockings

Three weeks post op today and the compressions have gone in the bin.  Another milestone passed.  All dressings off as well so I am on the way.  Having quite a sharp pain under my knee cap. Does anyone know if this is normal

Hi Sue, Congrats for having dumped the stockings, although I tried convincing myself I was back in the 60's and they were the height of fashion! At about 8 weeks I was having pain above the kneecap, which my surgeon said was the ligament protesting, so I'm wondering if below the knee might be similar. It seems that each day presents you with a different pain site, and when you think of what was done during the op, it's not surprising that we feel pain just about everywhere you can imagine. Sorry I can't be of more help, but someone out there will have an answer.

Take care & be kind to yourself.

Hi Sue, what a relief it is to get rid of those stockings, I am also 3 weeks post op and couldn't wait to put them away! I also get some pain in my knee cap from time to time, I think its just things settling down, try not to worry about it, Im sure its normal. We all panic after a bit after op when a different pain comes as you think oh no its back again. Take care.

I was told to wear them for 6 weeks & take aspirin as well . Took the aspirin for 6 weeks but ditched the stockings after 2 weeks. To prevent DVT's.

I am in Australia Sandra and three weeks is the magic number, thank goodness

I am in Nth Coast of NSW. They all vary so much in their instructions don't they?

I am in adelaide Sandra.  Hoping to spend a month or two at doffs harbour lmid to late July.  Yes, there doesn't seem to be much consistency in instruction.  OFG seems to have more helpful instruction than anyone else.

Sorry,  Coffs Harbour.
