Thought I had silent reflux, now not sure!

Hi all, I should say I am waiting on an endoscopy in late Nov. so should have more info then, but I've been suffering since early 2018 and am debating whether to start a new stronger medication (Dexilant), so would love some advice now if anyone has it. I have been assuming I have silent reflux because I constantly feel like I have a furball in my throat, get pains in my back (between shoulder blades) and recently have had shortness of breath/coughing and feeling that bra is tight, though that may just be allergies or asthma due to menopause. I also used to get a lot of discomfort in neck/collarbone though I have to say that has improved since I started Gaviscon Advance. The throat and back are as bad as ever though. Here's the thing. Last night during the night I had a feeling of real acid in my throat which I almost never have. Finally I sat up and burped and it got a lot better. But all this makes me think, maybe my other symptoms AREN'T really LPR or GERD, because this acid feeling was totally different. (I had eaten a lot of onions which I almost never do.) Has anyone had the lump in throat and the other symptoms and found out through testing that it actually WASN'T GERD? Again, I'm trying to figure out whether to start this new medication, which I won't do if it turns out I don't have an acid problem!
