I’ll try to keep this short ![]()
at 47 I had a THR right side, I need my left doing but trying to hold off for as long as I can. I’m now 49
my scar is about 1ft long and it (leg) doesn’t feel right. I get pain and “feel” the stake. I get groin pain and it aches all the time.
I’m getting tested for fibromyalgia and was wondering if I do have fibro, could this be the cause of my pain.
anyone shed any light or have the same sort of symptoms?
thanks x
oh my left leg is almost an inch shorter now and have all my shoes built up, but hopefully when I get it done I will be almost even again.
Xxx
Hi
I am almost 5 months post surgery. My upper thigh to my groin hurts. Also the operated leg is longer than the other one and am limping. I am miserable and don’t think this will ever correct itself. Went for physical therapy for over 3 months and it did NOTHING. Surgeon is saying that it is a tilted pelvis. He does not want to admit that one leg is longer than the other. Am in pain just like you and am besides myself. Was told not to use a lift in my shoe right now. I don’t think you have fibromyalgia. I am giong to a neurologist and I saw a second opinion doctor who is going to take a new MRI next week. Keep me posted.
my surgeon said that there wasn’t a difference in my leg length!!
my GP referred me to the …bugger can’t remember the name of the department lol, anyway I’m nearly an inch different but I was told that you have to wait 6 months for things to settle.
your 5 months so let’s hope by next month you can see about shoe lifts.
8mm or less you can have inserts but over that you need build ups.
good luck with your MRI and hope they get to the bottom of your pain. access
I had my left hip replaced first. My leg was longer than my right and never stabilized. Then when I had my right hip replaced I was so hopeful that my legs would now be the same length. Wrong, now the right leg is longer. Again, this has never evened out. I have a small limp, even though I wear corrective inserts in my left shoe. This has caused additional pain (sciatica), which is apparently permanent. A pain specialist said the sciatica was because of bulging discs in my back pressing on the nerve. The discs had been bulging long before either hip replacement and I did not have sciatica. I’m sure the sciatica is from the different lengths of my legs.
As for Fibromyalgia. I also have that and had that before either hip replacements. I have pain and muscle spasms everywhere. Itching I never associated with Fibro, maybe I should, but not located at the hips.
Best of luck!
hello sjam, i am very sorry to hear about the complications your still experiencing. I hope that soon it can be sorted out. every hip replacement in my experience is different . had 2 and one revision. each one was totally different. i hope the surgeon can give you some answers and help you thru this, as many of us can attest that it can take more than a year or longer after thr to get back to a new normal.
best wishes and please be sure not to let the second thr surgery wait to long , its best to have healthy good strong bones for implant components as my doc said for many good years ahead as well as suffering any longer with the pain. everyones story is different as healing and complications are also something that takes time to work out and it will. be your own self advocate and research what you can along with reading your surgery records. every little bit helps. you sounds like you are very strong , as most of us here know that it certainly takes a lot to get thru this type of surgery . THR is definately not for sissies!
give it more time as it takes time for our bodies to adjust. sending lots of healing blessings your way.
