hey guys :-) first time iv ever posted a discussion but iv been following this site for a long time, it really helped me pre op make choices.
So basically everything has been going really well, my leg was badly rotated pre op with the knee about a 45 degree angle inwards, that has been fixed during the op so iv gone through tones of muscle groaning days. I still have a large muscle ball at the top of the wound where it was obviously clamped open and one at the bottom.
I have internal dissolvable sutures that i believe was one long piece knotted on the way down but not clipped. I was awake and only slightly sedated - the spinal anesthesia wore off quite a bit towards end so i could feel a part of the end of the op and all the sutures lol
I have started spitting sutures, there is one directly under where the top knot will be, which is fully out, the wound appears to be happily sealed tho no gaps or leakage at any time, and i have a few further down i can just feel in the scar line.
I have non- axial spondalytis (ankolysising spondalitis but mostly affects my pelvis and the lower spine) so i take a anti- tnf called Etanercept once ever week which is why im worried.
Has anyone experienced spitting sutures? do i need to fone up the surgical nurse to deal with it (i have a ocd specialist surgeon with strict guidelines who scares half the nurses on the ward) do i just leave it and see what happens or do i clip both sides of it carefully to prevent pulling the whole line?

Hi I'm sorry but it may be I am not informed enough but should it say splitting sutures ?? Well done as well on being so brave when only partially sedated
my worst nightmare in the world was to get put out, you couldnt see anything as they put this weird big double sheet tent thing up annoyingly. i ended up far more sedated than i had wanted or needed to but at least it wasnt knocked out. but thank you
so what i mean by spitting is when your body decides to "spit them out" normally you can tell they are being pushed out slowly either a raised bump or a small pop of fluid or a slight opening in the scar line. But they just seem to be appearing (small loop of suture completely outside and not attached to the skin) like the scar is healing and saying "your not meant to be here so off ya go" there are no open bits of the scar line so really not sure what to do.
Iv seen it in horses and we used to snip the ends where the loop is then rub with alcohol and put on some strong disinfectant and cover for a day and its usually fine. Its my first op and i have no clue what is right or wrong in human healing and dont want to cause an issue with my immune system.

I see, I would suggest you call your surgeons office or your GP, does it hurt or is it just visual, try not to touch them as you don't want to cause an infection

tbh dont want to phone phycho surgeon hes mentally ocd and will have me back in the ward most likely for something that is likely very normal which is why i posted.
Let's hope someone comes on with a good idea of what's going on, if it gets worse or leg falls off then I think time to check in with loony surgeon LOL in the meantime I would say if its looking OK and not hot and swollen its probably normal
Ich weiß nicht, ob du es erwähnt hast, aber wie weit bist du schon? Mein Chirurg wollte, dass ich mich nach der Operation bis zu seinem nächsten regulären Termin mit meinem Hausarzt in Verbindung setze. Ist das eine Option, um den verrückten OCD-Arzt zu vermeiden????
Ich bin sicher, dass der Hausarzt die Fäden/Klammern entfernen könnte, falls nötig.
Zum Thema Narkose: Ich bin 40, aber in den letzten fünf Jahren musste ich ziemlich oft sediert werden, wegen einer Ellbogenoperation, Magenproblemen und jetzt der THR. Ich habe gelernt, dass man kurz bevor die Gasmaske aufgesetzt wird, an etwas Schönes denken sollte, und man wird wahrscheinlich den besten Traum aller Zeiten haben! Mein Nachbar ist ein Anästhesiologe (ich habe das total falsch buchstabiert), aber er hat mir das auch gesagt, und seine Patienten wachen oft mit tollen Traumgeschichten auf.

I have had two failed surgical attempts to repair a labral tear in my right hip. I was recently diagnosed with advanced osteoarthritis in my right hip. I am 39 years old (active, not overweight). I recently consulted with a rheumatologist. She ordered a sacral MRI to look for lower spine inflammatory disorders. That is scheduled for next week.

Hipster, it's normal after a few weeks. Although they are dissolvable some do just pop out. If the wound is closed no need to worry about it. You can trim it if you sterilise the scissors beforehand.
Really could have done with a more inventive name lol
There is still surgical tenderness around the incision but I've started massaging the lumpy bits around scarand then the swollen muscle where the yank it open lol
I'm healing at a rate I can't quite get my head around I've been unable to do anything much for about 7 years and apart from the gained weight and different muscle changes. I feel almost 100% normal that's going to take getting used to lol.
Oh and my partner accidentally slapped my hip so it's a bit tender. I thought I was going to severly struggle at first as I couldn't bend my knee with muscle changes causing swelling to get in car on day I left hospital but roll on 3 weeks and I'm starting stair exercises with the physio.
My grandad got his op the day after he's fairly young 70 year old. Comparing scars with him and Google it lol looks more like a 4 month scar than 3 weeks. I think the rapid healing may have something to do with the sutures getting pushed out
Anyway iv rambled enough thank u for replying and I hope everyone is having a nice pain free morning xx
