I had left THR 5 years ago and right THR last August. I really want to be able to walk fast again but feel very tight around the hip joints. Has anybody got any ideas of what exercises I can do to lossen them up?
Hi Sandra,
I asked my physio re tightness round the joint but from the perspective of wanting a better range of motion. She said it was a strength issue so I'm going to be introducing squats, lunges and working with resistance bands. Not forgetting to warm up and stretch afterwards ☺
Hope that helps,
Jennifer, uk
Thanks Jennifer, I did start the squats and lunges but will have to try and bring in the resistance bands to see if that helps.
Hi Sandra , I had a bilateral done 9 weeks ago and feel I am waddling not walking , going for physio tomorrow in the hope of walking a bit more normaly . I'll let you know what my physio says . Also ,did you suffer with back pain after ? All the best Ruth
That seems to be my biggest problem when walking. I did a 3 mile walk last night and before I was half way through, my hips were okay but my back was unbearable.
I wonder if adding some core strengthening exercises might help with your back?
Yes my hips felt good while walking but my back just ached after a bit , hopefully my physio can give me some exercises to help . I think its sleeping on my back for so long , still not comfy on my side , Ruth
