Hi to all my hippie friends, had my op on April 18th. Have had a few probs nerve block lasted for several days so mobility has been a huge problem.
iI am now starting to walk with frame . My leg, knee and ankle is very swollen by end of day. Have any of you had this problem. I am seeing physio on Wednesday . So just wanted my mind put at rest. Overnight it does go down a little.
Thanks
Gaynor x
oh yes my whole op leg and foot was very swollen until just the last couple days it is getting better, and it has been 9 weeks, yes it is normal
Hi Gaynor! Poor you! But yes things will improve! As each week goes past, you will feel stronger! I am 7weeks today! And still bruised! So it just shows we are all different! I will be having hydrotherapy soon! Regards Amanda
Hello Gaynor, pity about your nerve block but it goes to show everyone reacts differently. My leg, knee, ankle swollen for about 10 days and subsided overnight with the need to pee every 2 hours. Now 5+ weeks and this has gone completely. Wound still a tad tender and swollen but healthy
Everyday you will see some improvement. I found it helpful to keep a daily log to look back on
Good luck with recovery
Ann
Hi Gaynor
At this early stage, anything goes I feel. What you are experiencing will have been experienced by some but not all!
Others will have symptoms you're not having. There is no rule that fits all.
Look after yourself, take it very steady and don't expect too much too soon. Physio will give you lots of advice and encouragement hopefully.
I am 7 weeks post op and still on the roller coaster of recovery. But it is a recovery and I'm grateful for that.
Good luck, keep posting
Barbara xx
Hi Amanda

welcome to this wonderful group .... you will find so much support and love here - no where else is there so much understanding - it has lifted my spirits and still does -
my operated leg was swollen too - started from the hip and then went down to my ankle - fat and swollen to a point that I thought my skin was going to burst ... it went away, like everybody says .... keep coming back here Gaynor !!!
Morning Gaynor, yes the swelling is quite normal, dont worry about it, I,m 5.5 weeks post op and my foot and ankle is still slightly swollen, Listen to your Physio, do your exercises, things will improve day by day.
Brian
Yes my thigh and knee still get very swollen by end of day and more I walk worse it seems to get but is usually gone in morning. I'm 4.5wks post op
Hello Hippis. I have been doing well and been careful not to break any of the restrictions. I am 5+ post op weeks and today I am having groin pain. this is anew twinge for me so guessing it is part of the recovery programme. Yesterday I took a rest day as I had been busy the day before. About to take short walk with 2 sticks for support, maybe I need to loosen up
It will go down eventually, some take longer than others. I had a swollen leg, knee and ankle, then I had various bruising coming out, However it all goes away. Walking with your frame will do it good and keep the circulation moving, although you will find your leg swells up again afterwards. Don't worry, as long as it goes down a bit again by the morning, that is normal. It can take 6-8 weeks for some people, so little and often with exercising and resting is the way to go. Good luck.
