Hi everyone. A while since I spoke to you all. I have been improving but still have times when I have pain in muscles. I have been doing my exercises to stregthen but stiff in mornings. I regularly walk my little dog do all housework as normal, still can't manage without some pain relief. Played 50 minutes of indoor bowls this week trying to get back to normal, but have paid for it today. Has anyone else had these problems at three months? Perhaps it's my age 75. Maybe it will take longer to gain strength. Thanks for listening.
I am only 25days after my operation I had it on 11th may I am not on so many pain killers now, but I do tend to get a a lot of clicking that feel if I move my hip slightly, I am still having to sleep on my back did you get any funny sensations
Hi Marlene
I'm 3 months on too. And yes yes yes, still have a lot of heaviness and achey legs. I am keeping fit with basic gym classes. But know my triggers. If I go to s shopping centre where I'm walking on hard floors and stopping and starting I feel it in my back the next day. Also long car journeys- they are the worse.
Do you have osteoarthritis? My physio said swimming excellent so am going to try that.
Im told it takes up to a year to recover so still early days for both of us. I'm 63 and think it sounds as if you are doing really well.
Take care
Barbara xx
I'm 9wks and still get achey muscles and they are tender to touch. Surgeon says it can be 6 months to a year before muscles fully recovered
Hi Marlene! I am just over 12weeks post op! I am very stiff as well and its not easy to relax as I am Hubby's full time carer! He too has oa of spine, hips and knees and deaf and severely sighted! I am having reflexology and will be joining a swimming club! My consultant said it can take up to a year to get back to normal! Regards Amanda
Hello Marlene I am 12 weeks today and for the past 2 weeks have had heavy aching thighs. Wondered if it was getting back to my low settee. Although I do not wish others to suffer it is a relief to know someone is the same as me.
Let's hope it is part of the process and is short lived
Hi Marlene I am 17weeks and age 67 still get stiff in joint if I sit to long takes about three steps to ease but otherwise fine don't take any painkillers now. Regards Ruth
Hi marlene, great that we all are more or less same time post op .. I am 11 weeks and have lower back pains that make me almost unable to stand up straight ,,, also thigh is tender to the touch and some dull pains (stabbing) underneath my scar - doesn;t help that my unoperated leg now need THR too ... still taking pain relief meds ... so, it seems that this normal .. annoying, disappointing and it sucks at times, but normal .... have a good night - warm hug
I think that's pretty good. They only recommend going back to sedentary work at 12 wks and indoor bowls means lots of bending. so its not surprising you are suffering!
