Had a problem with a haemorrhoid for a couple of weeks now. Have had internal haemorrhoids on and off for a while but they never got past the itching stage and a few standard Anusol suppositries that you can buy from the shop stopped them.
Went to the Dr on Friday for an exam and they said it was a thrombosed external one and they gave me Anusol HC cream which turned out to be the same as I purchased over the counter in the pharmacy previously and so this didn't really do much to help. Got some Scheriproct from another Dr just now.
I just wondered if there's any hope the haemorrhoid will go away on it's own with these treatments or whether I'm looking at surgery? Nothing seems to help with it as yet. I've seen a lot of strories about the surgery being painful and the haemorrhoids coming back and so I'm not really sure what to do or think.

Any kind of external or internally haemorrhoid u have to do surgery, you don't have any choices without surgery.
Most people when getting this surgery know if there lookin to get surgery or not. Have you tryed all the preventative things people do before they have surgery? Diet seems to be a huge one, also pretty much catering to your hemmroids sitz baths, creams etc. thrombosed hemroids can resolve themselves the blood clot will break itself down. Maybe give it a couple more weeks and if it don't go away maybe get another opinion. I am 3 weeks post op and I had a external one removed and a internal one and a thrboised one drained and stiched. It is painful but I didn't think it was anything like the horror stories very manageable and now and week 3 I have a lil itchiness and minimal pain I'm ususually at a 0 sometimes it gets a lil irritated making it a one but again nothing I regret and now I'm not suffering with the excruciating pain I had before surgery. Very much worth it
It should settle down in a week or two. Put ice on it as often as you can and don't Get Constipated.
