Thrush with rectocele advice please??

Thrush and rectocele advice please? Symptoms for a month. Tried canesten cream and oral tablet on advice of GP. 3 weeks ago. Slight improvement. Itching mainly on rectocele area but itching comes and goes. Worse at night. Is this likely to be thrush or more to do with rectocele? Is the canesten pessary okay to try with prolapse? The cream made me burn so I was worried about trying the canesten pessary. I suppose because all the vaginal tissues are more sensitive with prolapse.

Is it thrush or is it bv? Both have similar symptoms but different treatments. Its to do with th PH of the vagiba. Ive used a pessary and found it actually  helped the prolapse symptoms. It does burn a bit and gets bit worse before it gets better. It takes around 3 to 4 days to clear up. You can also get an internal cream which you apply in same way as a pessary.

Hi. Discharge doesn't smell so don't think it's BV. I had BV many years ago and think the bad smell was the tell tell sign. When the GP examined me a few weeks ago I jumped up as I was so sore and painful at entrance. That's why she thought I might be too sensitive to the pessary. I might try the internal cream. I had never tried the oral tablet and I guess it just doesn't work for me. Thanks for the advice.

Just spoke to GP who says swab was negative for thrush. Said no point using canesten if no Candida. Likely to be rectocele causing this.

But like you say if it's a PH thing causing it then I'm tempted to try the internal cream anyway.

To be honest i often use the internal cream or the pessary. I dont bother with GP probably a bad mve on my part but..........  i also use vinegar in the bath which seems to prevent it and tea tree oil (a dab on my finger “up” there. Wotks for me but i cna see it might not be for everyone.

Hi Rosa

This must be really frustrating for you . Unfortunately this not a professional medical advice forum so posters can only suggest not advise. Too dangerous otherwise. If you have been seeing your dr already and have had surgery as well then wouldn't it be best to continue and have those questions answered by a qualified practitioner. Sometimes we just have to be persistent.

Hope it is resolved soon

Hi, I too suffer from thrush when I’m having a bad day with prolapse, my doctors say it’s not related but I know it is for me, I find the tablet keeps it at bay for a few days then it’s back, always worse at night, only way to sleep is with an antihistamine tablet. A bath with Epsom salts sometimes reliefs symptoms. Xx
