Hi my Thyroid function test Serum TSH level was 5.1 mu/L, does this seem quite high, im in the uk
You're right, here in UK they like it to be below 4.2.
i thought it was high, but the range is [0.3 - 5.5] so it comes back as normal
im also in the uk
How weird, the TSH range on mine (in Wales) says 0.27-4.20
I would push for them to do something. It's not bloody good enough it's a postcode lottery in this country 😣😞
Im in Nottinghamshire and yes agree with the postcode lottery
I will tell you what I know. If you are not on any thyroid theropy (Levo, Synthroid or the like) then anything over 4.5 mu/l is considered too high. If you are on theropy, then anything over a 2 is high. I had to go to a specialist to hear this. My family practitioner kept telling me that everything was ok. I finally went to a specialist and found out that because I was being over medicated, I now have hashimoto's disease. Thankfully it was caught in time before cancer started to grow.
Are you already on thyroid therapy (meds)?
Hi Diane,
no not on any meds for thyroid, when my blood tests came back it just said normal.
