Tibolone after 12 months, any changes?

Hi, I am 50 years old and have been taking Tibolone for 12 months, my life changed, mood swings gone, sex drive back all within the first month. In the past couple of weeks I have noticed my mood swings are back, my poor partner doesn't know whether he is coming or going! I wondered if anybody else has experienced this whilst using Tibolone and whether I need to increase my dosage from 2.5mg to 5mg, doctors approval permitting. I have not experienced any side effects or anything else, it just doesn't feel like its working anymore! Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

I had the same thing, I was on Tibolone for 5 years when it stopped working, saw my gynaeocologist who changed me on to oestrogen patches which I tried for a few months, then I put myself back on Tibolone and it worked again. Perhaps gave a break for a couple of months and then retry it.

Thanks for the info.  I will give give my gynaeocologist a call and see what my options are.  Thanks again.

Hello. There may be another explanation. I have been on Livial (Tibolone) for several years, as has one of my friends. We have both noticed - separately at first - that the pill packets occasionally vary. One can tick along happily for years ... and then there appears to be a 'bad packet', when one's suddenly plunged back into the sort of symptoms you're describing.  It's happened often enough that we've both returned packets to the chemist (asking for another batch), at least twice.

Prescription strengths aren't supposed to fluctuate, and of course there could be other explanations. Either way, we are are far from imagining this. That's why I am putting the explanation out there, in case it helps anyone else. It might be worth trying another packet (with a different seriel number on the end - not just another packet from the same batch you were given), before you go to all the trouble of changing. Good luck.
