I have been on Prednisone for 2.5 years for GCA. I started at 60 mg and am currently at 1.5 mg. I am off Methotrexate too. I have begun to hear whooshing noises in my head similar to a washer agitator. I feel well during these episodes and they only last a few minutes. I also sense a slight fullness in my head when this is happening. Has anyone else experienced this?

I started on 60mg 2 months ago and now down to 20mg. I have had this continuous noise in my head almost from the beginning. I did mention it to consultant who made no comment other than agreeing it could be steroids causing it. It does seem to be quite common. No help to you really but just saying I have it.
Hi, I was on 40mg but have managed to get to 7mg in nine months
. I have unusual feelings in my head and ears, a bit like when you’re in a plane! I get buzzing sounds too! It comes and goes and nobody can tell me why. I think it must be the steroids and so hopefully will go in time. I do hope you feel better soon too.
Both of your respondents have intermittent noise/whooshing, mine is there permanently. The common issue is we are on steroids. I was hoping the noise would reduce as pred.. is reduced, but no. I have GCA. Or they think so as my biopsy was negative.
For all of you - it is something to speak to a doctor about. It is a reflection for what your heart is doing and if you have other sensations id could be an arrythmia or your BP spiking up or down. Always bear having it checked out.
