Tip of penis opening hurts

so my penis looks normal, nothing sticks out. but somtimes the tip gets painful and last for a long time, days and weeks. my doctor said I'm just thinking too much into it and I have sensitive nerves. but for a while it will go away and come back. i have hsv type 1. ( cold sores) and apperently i got it on my penis since it was oral sex. could that be it? or is there any tips on how to treat this?

Ask your doctor if applying a mild steroid cream on the tip would be a good idea.

The problem with applying ANY cream to the tip area of the penis is that if sufficient gets inside the Meatus (the pee-hole) it can cause severe problems to the Meatus itself or to the urethra.
Large percentages of the population in many countries across the world are born as carriers of hsv 1 - you may have had it anyway, but may have shown no obvious signs to you.
Whatever it is that is causing the problem you have with your penis I would suggest going to one of the larger GU Medicine facilities in the area in which you live - in the UK most of these are known as GUM Clinics, if you live in the UK find which is the regional general hospital that has specialist units based in it.
Most often these are doctor and specialist training facilities as well as a normal general hospital - at such a facility you would have access to a larger number of specialists who can check out your problem, rather than dismiss it.
The other alternative is find the main sexual health service in your area - the larger ones are based in major cities.
You may actually need to see a Dermatologist that specialises in Genital Skin Disorders to resolve what you have going on
