I can understand how great you must have felt

Make sure it is safe before you use it again.....If I remember rightly you were the one that said you were a "worry wort" and I was to be safe.....do you remember that??? LOL Maybe you are like me...its more....do as I say and not as I do  LOL

You are right about the small things we take for granted. I cant cut my toenails now....have to go to a podiatrist. Never thought about this when my back was OK and i hadnt had replaceements etc but now...its a big thing

Hi  I had a left total hip replacement 21 november 2013

    I'm managing to have a good soak but should not really. 

I understsnd how you feel and I am still trying to sort out a wet room

and despite a report from the OT who assessed me recomending a wet room

I am not able to get funding because I am working and not on a low enough

wage to qualfy 

               My mother has a bath lift FANTASTIC so my brother bought me one

unfortunately the anti slip nodules on the base of my bath stop the sucksion

 caps from working so can't use it.  My friend has a different  bath lift so will have to get the name and make of it  ( £400 plus better than £4,500 plus) I guess I will

carry on untill I have saved the money I am a health care support worker at my local hospital so need a decent wash when I come off shift  I see my consultant in november 2014 .ood luck be carefull

Hi aol

If your OT assessed you for a wet room will she not let you have a bath lift? or seat?

Mine offered me one......I tried it but  for various reasons it wasn't suitable

                No she would not offer me one and said a bath lift would not be funded

That is such a pity.....ours are so good.....we get offered lots of things.....sometimes on loan sometime {like bath seats} permanently

Dear Eileen,

I can honestly say I know how you feel! After 9 dislocations

between both hips,I finally found an md in Palm Beach FL area

who specializes in fixing bad hips from a replacement. I had been

to several md's but they continued coming out. OH THE SHEER

AGONY!! Finally after much searching I found Dr. Gregory Martin.

He put in restraining rings in both hip cups where the femur rested and

and rotated to allow movement. And the rings stopped the femur

head from just popping out like before. My life changed on those

days and he said it took less than 45min. on each hip. He did not

do both hips in one day. It was out 4 days apart. But since that time

Nov. 2012 I have had no recurring hip problems. So, there are doctors

out there who can help but due diligence is the secret to finding

the right one who can help.( I now have a rotator cuff torn clear thru the

muscle and the only solution is a complete shoulder reverse

surgery.I am in a quandary because every day I look for someone

who is familiar and capable in this specialized surgery). The advice

from the doctor was NO MORE BATHS!!! You must somehow get

a friend or an outside nursing member to help you through the

shower situation. Baths are just asking for slipping and falling. And

anything is better than that. Good luck.
