TKR day 5

So pleased to have found this forum. This is going to be a slow process. Just wish quads would work better!!

im 4 weeks after mine and its been a painful recovery, however getting better now, walking without any sticks for short walks, cant stand for long and knee tells me when ive overdone it, everyones different, youll get there

It’s very early early days, remember things will get better. Keep going with the physio, it will be worth it. Good luck!

Remember recovery takes time and hard work. You will get there in the end, every recovery is different so don’t judge your recovery by that of others, or what others say their recovery was like.

Thank you for your encouragement. Have done lots of stretches today. Feels a whole lot better. I am sure yesterday (day 4) reminded of baby blues days!! Remember those ladies. They may have been a long time ago! but like then ,the body has been through a great trauma! Positive thinking

HI SUE so pleased that you are doing ok i must say i did smile about the baby day pain ! oh yes you dont forget that i would rather have another baby compared to a new knee. i saw my Dr today as concerned about my knee felt from day one it was not right as its starting to give way when walking im back at work so lots of walking to keep myself awake and still doing the exercises but ive just been unlucky it does not help that my left knee needs replacing but untill the right can be sorted that wont happen keep up the good work

Hi!

You will get stronger in the weeks and months ahead. This surgery takes so much recovery but you will make it!

Hi sue well it’s 7 months tomorrow since my tkr and life is good. No pain walking well definitely light at the end of the tunnel but a few months ago really wondered if I’d done the right thing but yes I have so chin up it’ll be worth it. Even considering getting my other knee done and I never thought I would. Good luck

Hi from a two and a half year bilateral survivor post op since Mar 2016. My physio said “those quads are your responsibility gal”…she’d seen major league footballers lose strength in quads after just a week. Keep exercising them. I NEVER miss a night of 5 mins quad exercises. Strong quadriceps are key to strong knees. I fly to Asia 5-6 return flights a year, walk 5 km every day and still have stairs, ramps and balance issues. No knee pain at present though. It is a long road. Or it has been for me. xxx
