I am now 6 months post TKR.
Can anyone reassure me that the muscular pain in my calf should go. In the last couple of days my knee cap (which was also replaced) has started to ache. Knee also pretty stiff. Walking is not a problem and I do at least 3 miles a day, but sitting down and getting up again does. I would be grateful for any comments
I don't know anything about knee replacement but I've had my share of knee problems and surgeries. Have an issue with both knees right now that's keeping me from working so I feel your pain. Hang in there and stay positive I know it's difficult.
Back off the walking for awhile and see if it eases up. Don't quit, just back off to a milevand start working back up. Be sure and continue to ice, elevate and increase your water intake.
My PT has always been huge on calf stretching. Maybe give it a try.
hi chris i had alot of pain in my calf last year i was about 9-10mths post revision it caused alot of pain gripping pain i could hardly walk , i had to do alot of stretching of the calf muscle and also took magnesium to help it worked . before you go for a walk do five or ten minuites of stretching the calfs my favorite one was using a balance board (if you dont have one use the last step of the stairs ) try to keep heals on the floor and the rest of the foot on the board or the step of stairs lean forward without bending the leg keep the leg as straight as possible and stretch count to 30 or less if that is too much repeat at least 3 times leaning in more each time it gives a great pull .what your suffering from is spasams its awfull nearly drove me mad it will go once you do plenty of stretching do it often and pain will go for good mine did
Thanks for your encouragement
Thanks for your advice. The walking I will find hard to stop doing but I will try to increase the water intake. I am really not very good at that.
Yes I am certainly doing those stretches.
Thanks for the advice
Thanks for your reply Linda
Today I bought calcium/magnesium tablets.
I have been working on my muscles and stretching but probably not enough. I will try the one on the stairs. Its so encouraging to read this site. I wish I had seen it when I was first out of surgery and not able to sleep for a few weeks!
It didnt help today when a fat labrador ran into my leg!
Thanks again to everyone
Chris
