I hope this works this is the best concise video I've seen so far
no frills about 10 mins long. It will help understand what you are going through.
warning not for the feint hearted but I would recommend it.
If this link doesn't work I found it be looking at Google under 'how a total knee replacement works' go to the video search and click on total knee replacement part 2

NHS choices has an animation that gives all the details without the gore
That's a shame as I think it would be genuinely helpful to people. Graphics are ok but doesn't show the intensity of the operation.
oh well I'm glad I've seen it but I respect the decision
Two minutes in I couldn't watch any more....
I guess it is very visual. It helped me to understand which bits hurt where and what they did to my body. I did say it wasn't for the feint hearted I think I'm a bit unusual in that I am fascinated in anatomy and how it all works . I have watched both the operations I had this year
I saw that video before my op and everyone said " ugh how could you watch that" but I did find it helpful I like to know what I am facing.
Hello
I've watched a few of these and find them fascinating.
I've sent the links to others to do they understand.
It really does help !
Ps. I was awake during my op too and even spoke with my anaethetist and surgeon during the op.
Ive been in theatre and didnt want to be awake during surgery. Happy to watch others go through it
I didn't have the choice but had good chats to surgeon and anaethetist . I think they put me into a light sleep so I'd stop talking . Lol.
has a lovely light sleep and woke up feeling really good and rested. Could do with some of that now.
I think it's good to have a snooze while everyone else is doing the hard work
Haha! The surgeon was playing rock and drum and bass music. I asked him to turn it up so i could hear it over the drill etc. He said 'well that's a first!' lol
Fabulous I love when there's a bit if humour in theatre . I was thinking id be able to watch but was advised against it and they put up a barrier anyway so you can't see. Think I'm a bit weird!!! Lol. But I did enjoy the snooze
I'm like you i like watching all this medical stuff.
I was disappointed when they put up the curtain. But i did see My leg lifted up at the beginning. Was really weird as i felt they were still curled up in the position i was in for the spinal.
But i felt very warm and cosy
Thank you for the video soobeedoo. Hard to watch but educational for sure.
We out to be thankful for the advances made in this area. Amazing what they can do
Well done Peter it's helpful to know isn't it .
I was surprised at the ammount of people in the theatre for my operation, I counted about seven or eight but I don't know what they all did.
I wish i had asked for my knee cap preserved in a jar! Lol
Would have been a talking point Haha!
