My knee definitely feels stronger and doesn't "click" or "give" but still hurts on the side of the knee. Doc says nothing wrong shows on X-ray. Anyone else out there ? Cathy
Pretty much normal. For some it goes aaway quickly and some it can last awhile. My 1st tkr , never had much of a problem nor with the revision. But the 2nd revision that resulted because of the staph has created the problem on a long term basis.
Have you had an MRI scan of the knee? Maybe a meniscal tear or a pulled muscle. Neds attending to. Sorry this msg is a bitty. Take care
I had my TKR in Feb, 2016 so about the same amount of time as you. My knee is much worse than before surgery. I had a manipulation under anesthesia 3 mo after surgery to break up scar tissue. I have had 6 mo of PT, Chinese medicine, acupuncture, dry needling; you name it. I have pain across the knee cap and it is warm to the touch; a bakers cyst on the back of the knee that is painful and won't go away; pain down the right side of the leg and stiffness with 100 degree bend. I am on my 5th opinion. I recently tried ART and was hopeful that it would break up the scar tissue but no help. Now, the 5th dr wants to do a genicular knee block and I'm thinking it's something to try but it's not getting to the "cause," so not sure what to do at this point either. Oh yes, one dr says I have flexion instability and definitely the leg with the TKR is longer than the other so I am wearing a lift in the opposite shoe.
Yup. I'm 8 months post....I get pain just on the inside part of my knee. It isn't there ALL the time though. Saw my surgeon for for follow-up just this past Tuesday. He says I'm probably feeling it in the "capsule" surrounding the knee.....they moved muscles, blood vessels, and nerves during the surgery. Says it will take time to go back to "normal". Hope that helps.
Exactly similar issue on right knee. 16.5 months post both knees. One knee is perfect. Similar diagnosis to yours. My doc says cortisone MIGHT help. There is a risk of infection though. So I said bugger off. I will put up with a little pain. Overall I am renewed! Rejuvenated even. Good luck xx
Thanks so much for your reply. I was waiting to have 2nd knee done until first was better, but decided to go ahead. Hope I have your luck😎

Thanks...sounds encouraging 😊
Hi again Cathy. Some days I do not feel lucky then I remind myself about being stranded whilst shopping in Penang. I could not move because my left knee gave way. Then my right knee caved. No warning. I finally limped over to a taxi, the driver helped me into my hotel, I packed my bag and flew home to Oz to beg my surgeon to replace both my knees. I'd put the operation on hold for years. Slowly my recovery has taken place. My knees are strong and my life has improved. Sending you hugs and good wishes for a great outcome! xx
Thanks. Your posts have helped me several times. I'm ready to get 2nd knee done
Thanks. I'm ready to get 2nd one done now....think it will b less pressure on the hurting knee.
