Anyone had a revision with in a year of their total knee replacement for instability. I've been in therapy for over three weeks now and not much change. I still have pain and it is still unstable at times where it wants to collapse . I would like to know what I'm up against Justin case .
I had TKR in Nov 15...had a fall..got a fracture in top of femur then lots of pain on standing n walking. tk revision done this last week and I am hoping for improvement dreading if it doesn't work.when I read yr comments hoping yrs settles down for you.x can't explain the pain to anyone who has not gone down this road x
Hi I had to have mine done do to infection in my first knee replacement . About 6 months after the first its been a long road . The pool helps a lot and I am now coming off the Fent pain patch as they told me with my knee having so meny surgerys there is nothing more they can do for me . Where do you live ? I am in the USA
I am from Lincoln in the UK.I really am praying that mine is successful as it's a very scary road to go down x
Hilary what was your knee doing that brings you to where you are now? My pt guy is working on my muscles. If I'm on the table with leg straight out in front of me I can't lift my leg up without bending at the knee. And when it does "give away" and bend the pain is ridiculous. Like something is rubbing together. Pt says I need to continue my muscle strengthening exercises. I'm worried that something is wrong. Rom is 105. Strain 0. And I'm 9 weeks po. Thank you
Ooops. This should be for nancybone. Sorry
Hi linker, I was doing very well walking two and 3 miles a few times a week. it might be a little sore by the end of the walk but nothing major then all of a sudden something triggered in the knee and I couldn't make them walk movement without pain My doctor's nurse practitioner put me on for weeks of physical therapy. He said it was my ligaments and tendons and that they should come back fast. Let me also mention I had been working out and doing water aerobics. But it just got a lot worse and I had to quit doing all things. Therapy doesn't seem to be helping much. My muscles Are a lot stronger than they used to be. I can go up The stairs pretty good going down I still need to take one step at a time. I've been reading about revision and what causes it. One of the things is instability. instability causes pain Anthony will collapse A little from time to time while walking. By the end of the day after I've been on it all day it will swell up at night so I elevated and ice it. I also read where my body could be rejecting the knee which is causing the instability which would mean revision.
Sorry linlee the spell check did an auto spelling
Sorry you are having so much trouble. I live in Kentucky
Gotta love auto spell. Makes life interesting! Thank you for your information. I'm going to talk to my pt. See if he thinks my issue of the knee giving out is ok. I just don't want another surgery. Just starting to feel a little bit normal.
Everything else is kinda of falling in place. My quads are good. Hamstring is coming along. Rom and straight is getting better. Just when I try to raise my leg with straight knee it hurts. I can't do it. I just switched pt 2 weeks ago. That's when I started progressing. Just this one issue. Augh! I'm in upstate NY
I know exactly how you feel. In the last four years I've had five surgeries the last one being the total knee replacement. About three months ago I finally got all my energy back and was so glad to be myself again and then this happened. Now I'm back to not wanting to do anything
Did you have the revision done?
Are you still live in upstate New York in the Rochester area a little town called Palmyra
I'm near Lake George. About an hr north of Albany.
Not yet. I will go to the doctor on June 8 and see what he says
My knee just got extremely painful on standing n getting up from sitting position to the point I could barely mobile without agony.6wk check up post op all lkd good on xrays but 3 wks later had to go back to surgery they discovered hairline fracture of femur n instability hence revision surgery last week.
That's terrible! I would have been noooooo! I'm sorry you had to go through that. Hoping and praying that you start feeling better soon!
Surgery done 6 days ago so am just home..hoping all goes well this time as couldn't do it all over again!have got to lk fwd with positive attitude but hard sometimes when you feel down x
What did they do? Was there an incision or microscopic? Do you have to do pt? Sorry for so many questions. I'm just hoping mine is just slow in muscle repair. I'm a little nervous I have to say....
