I’ve been dealing with anxiety and panic attacks for about 18 months. These symptoms came on with menopause. In the last few months, I’ve had jaw and ear pain. Twice I’ve gone to the clinic convinced I had an ear infection - both times ears checked out fine. About 2 weeks ago I realized the pain was located more on my TMJ and I noticed that my jaw was clenched most of the day. I had to focus on relaxing these muscles. Anxiety has been very high lately. The pain is pretty bad. Hurts to talk, dizzy, headache, sore throat - but it feels muscular, not burning or scratchy. Does anyone else have TMJ symptoms with anxiety?
Wow. It feels so good to have someone experience this too.
I've been going through the same exact thing. When I'm stressed or anxious my jaw gets very tense, pops whenever I move it in a weird way, and it aches a lot. Also the past 8 weeks or so I've had ear ringing plus a feeling like it was clogged with some light pain here or there.
I don't have any advice to offer, but just know you're not going through it alone!
It really does help to know that someone else has this too. I think my doctor believes I’m crazy when I tell him this stuff. My ears are ringing and feel totally blocked too. Sometimes I take decongestant and could swear it helps, maybe power of suggestion. The neck and jaw tension scares me because of the association with heart attack. Thanks to my gall bladder, I had a complete battery of cardiac tests two years ago. All good there - so I have to repeat this to myself constantly. Anxiety is not fun :-(
Wow I’m not alone with this....I have tmj also but of course I was convinced it was a heart attack. Glad it’s not just me
