I’m having pain in my left upper jaw (cheek area), stabbing, sharp ear pain, tenderness and shooting pain in my temple. I’ve also had this on the right side, but have it now on the left, because I had a molar extracted on the right side. (Have to chew on my side for awhile yet, and am now getting the soreness and shooting pains .) My gums and the roof of my mouth are sore too, and it feels like there are little bumps there. I’m going to see my dentist tomorrow.
Question: is this TMJ? My ear was so painful last night that I had to take Tylenol. The sudden stabbing in my ear was so jarring that it kept me from sleeping at times. I’ve had this on the right side too, but the ear wasn’t quite as painful on that side.
I’m also supposed to have a root canal/crown redone on the wisdom tooth just below my right jaw and ear soon, so I don’t get an infection in that tooth. The roots are dead and brittle, so pulling the tooth isn’t a good idea, I’m told.
I’m so afraid this pain and tenderness will get worse on the right side too. Sometimes it hurts just to touch my cheek or temple area.
Does this sound like TMJ? I really need some replies here. Thanks.
